sure you can get that, with turbo, and a thick wallet.

There is not much for the 2.2L engine. If you had a 2.5, maybe you could get up to 200. The problem is that no one makes cams or anything else for the 2.2L that will significantly increase your HP.

If you want to stick with the 2.2- try adding a turbo charger. Just don't blame me when you blow a piston or the block. If you run 7psi you could get around 200Hp at the crank and would not have to worry too much.

Do a search on this forum to find what parts you'll need. There are a few people that have put out pretty good lists.

Not much to be gained without going forced induction. I've heard that an axle back and an intake make for a noticeable improvement over stock.

There's always NOS.

Maybe, just maybe, those guys will finish the supercharger before our cars die of old age. Otherwise an intake, light crank pulley, mid-pipe and catback are the most reasonable options. Borla makes a header but I can't say if it actually does much. Stick with 2-2.25 inch pipes.
Use NGK copper plugs and some Mobil 1.
If you want more hardcore, swap bumper beams for the ultra lite bumpers of death.
The car benefits from suspension upgrades very well. That's where my money went. Lighter wheels with a smaller circumference tire is also a great help as is swapping the front brakes and rear brakes for some RS ones.

you might want to look into either some 1.8L heads or 2.5 heads....both are dual port, compared to single port on the 2.2 this will give you a boost in torque, which we all know is what helps make cars fast......

i have a 96 L coupe and i was wondering the same thing. But my car is an auto. How how fast would i be running 1/4 mile stock with my 137 hp? 17secs? can i get my 2.2L to run like low 16's high 15's? exhaust, intake, headers? pulleys? about how much would it cost? or should i save my money and get a rex swap as well? i think i read in a magazine that they do have a turbokit for the 2.2, but would it be worth it? also, any parts from the legacy ej22t interchangeable with my engine? thanks

auto Impreza L's are not drag cars no matter what N/A mods you plan on doing. putting $1500 into suspension will provide a much greater fun factor than $1500 of N/A engine mods on a 2.2l. i think the general consensus is that turbocharging a 2.2l or 2.5l is rarely reliable.

You know this for certain? Is there some proof to this? Looking at the ports on both heads, I don't think the singleport flows that bad.

I think the 99 2.2 had dualports anyway.

My 5spd 2.2L with K&N, snorkus ectomy, pulley, 2.25" mid-pipe and WRX catback, on 195/55/15 Toyo/Legacy Turbo wheels ran 16.8 in the quarter mile. Spare and jack removed and 1/4 tank of fuel. A perfect launch might be good for a few 10ths better.

Start saving for the swap. A 2.5l N/A will go in fairly easily and it can be modded up to 200hp. This will still run quite a few bucks.

not to steal the thread, but is the 95 2.2L dual port exhuast ports?

Either way, i posted on rs25.com and most people feel the 2.2L is more duable than the 2.5L since the ej25 is an overbored ej22 with the same smaller rods, and with the additional weight or larger pistons creates problems along with the thinner piston walls. Personally, i am going to stick with the 2.2L and mod the suspension because i dont care about 1/4 mile times. I wanna go curve up twisties, autox or go off road. Preferably the last one. If i want more power and when i can afford it, i will swap a usdm wrx engine and call it a day. I wanna run all day long and hard and not worry about tuning or if i am gonna detonate and blow up. And the money it would cost me to swap a 2.5L in, i could put into suspension or tranny, i want the Sti-ra tranny with front lsd, upgraded center diff , a beefier rear lsd(L's dont have one to begin with) and the quicker ratios . But thats me.

my buddy got a set of 1.8 heads for his 98 2.2 and is going to put them on b/c they are dual port. the dual port helps with torque, especially at low end

If it fits, you can swap anything.
