Mods have moved to the "next level". Any early opinions on the next generations Rimmer kit?

longer wait!
i saw his new kit at the N?S race in LA it was a So-So kit. he wouldnt give rides in it so i really can ttell you how it works. fit and finish were not to bad but there were some plumbing and tuning issues that would steer me away from the kit . tom@kartboy.com |

rao, you still waiting on your kit? Which kit? I have to admit, I'm getting a little confused as to what, exactly, Rimmer sells. ![]() |

So what's the deal with Rimmer? Seems like they're giving the same crappy service everyone says JC Sports gives. Are they putting the screws to us or is it all innocent ineptness?
Well, the supercharger adds 30hp at all ends, so that's nice, but for all the hassle AND 3000 bucks....eh. Might be better to turbo. |

I e-mailed rimmer on several occasions about an SC for the 00 legacy, and they have gone un-answered... Looks like they are slipping to the realm of JC SPorts....

From what I understand (*disclaimer* I myself have nothing to do with Rimmer, nor have I ever dealt with them personally) they have taken deposits on the SC kits and are supposedly working out the last kink - some kind of tensioner redesign since the drive belt gets too close to itself on the other side after wearing out and stretching. Personally, I would think that the tensioner would be done by now since all it'd take to fix that is a second tensioner next to it so it wouldn't have to push so far in one spot. *shrug* Maybe I'm wrong? Maybe I thought of something they didn't? Who knows...
Someone wanna come educate me on turbos and superchargers so I can start designing kits myself? At least I'd answer my email. ![]() |

Rao,
I'm curious what is the word on delivery of your kit? I enjoyed talking with you in Florida and want to see what you think of the kit. This of course implies that you get the kit before we all die of old age. (just kidding) ![]() 8Complex, just checked out your member info, cool what do you do. Maybe we should start our own company and design up some great toys for our cars. I'm still hunting for a Solid Model of the Impreza, were you one of the others that was looking for a 3D model as well? Oh well gotta get back to work. Later Eric |

wrxwannabe - Nope I wasn't on that want list but I'd love to get my hands on that model (as well as some of the models for the 22B like fenders and suspension arms).
Mainly I do a lot of drafting type work, but I've done engineering and a little design (mainly suggesting design ideas to designers rather then doing it all myself). I work in Solidworks, how about you? |

I'm a mechanical designer with GE-Harris. I designe housings and castings for an Electric brake system. We were using Autocad which is soo lame. We are now in the process of switching over to Unigraphics. I had to do the evaluation of Pro E, Machanical Desktop and Solid Edge. I really like Solid Edge but our company is tied to GE and they are pushing towards UG.
We should put in and get jobs working for Prodrive then we could buy STi's and make everyone jealous. |

Boy you leave town for a few days.....
I have very little time rght now, but here are the answers. They have redesigned the kit exactly 1 time. The delays have been due to their constant tinkering with the pulley drive system and their stated desire to make this kit perfect - we'll see. Me and Al Gainey are going to receive the first 2 kits, I am not going to quite times anymore because it is too depressing, but I expect to have good news soon - I have talked to them every business day for the last 2 weeks and I have a good idea exactly what they are up to. I will certainly let everyone know when the kits ship, when I get it, and all of the gory detials as I have said many times. My only problem with then has been the delivery time. I don't know how anybody can say the kit is good or bad until it has been sold. I will say this, at the end of the day, I would like to see anybody who has a quicker Impreza that is using both oem cats |
