well i know this has been discussed several times, but i actually pulled apart the stock 04 intake while checking the filter today and noticed a few things
1. the snorkel is gone, the 04 has an empty fender well with only 1 wire in it 2. The box by the fender isn't a box, just a tube running through it, no filter, no nothing, just a tube seems to me that this is the reason combined with the new plastic manifold that we don't feel the high end loss of power that the previous years have teh question is with these changes, i don't think we'll see as much of a difference from installing an intake, what does everyone else think?

Hey,
I was also looking at my engine compartment and noticed the same thing. I think that a small improvement can be made to the stock plastic piping. The stock intake has sections that are designed to flex (accordion type hose). I think these sections can be improved on to help smooth the airflow. I could be wrong but, I think the intake could still help with airflow. Jay |

right, i'm not saying we wouldn't benefit from an intake, it just seems that they've not just changed the manifold, but the whole intake for the better
the think i'm happiest about is the lack of snorkel, one less PITA thing i have to do when i do get an intake as for those accordian parts, yeah they create a ton of turbulance in the tubing, but i can see where they put them there, getting the filter out requires a few seconds of fiddling with angles before the torque box will come out, and its a little easier without having that pipe connected |

![]() the '04 intake is different but not that much different than the 00-03 intakes though. |
