Post Does our trunk have the child safe feature?

You know...in case my nephew decides to hide in the trunk, he'll have a way to open it. I remember just this summer the new reported about this couple's child was missing from a game of hide-n-go-seek. After a few hours, they found her dead from heat exhaustion in their trunk.

And if not, does Subaru offer the mod?

No, but whoever's in the trunk will be able to kick the cheap-ass rear seats down & get out thru the cabin.

Can't u just stick your hand in the part of the trunk lid and pull that bar that goes from the key to the lock? I've thought about it and tried pulling it and it looks like it would unlock the trunk, but never actually tried it.

IIRC, the trim in the trunk would get in the way of pulling the release cable... then again, it would be pretty hard to find it in the dark anyway.....

just make sure he gets along with your Trunk Monkey. If not, that'd be one angry monkey I wouldn't want to deal with

Asuuming you've got the same lock as us in the UK, you can flip the little bar at the side of the lock when the trunk is open. The trunk can then only be opened with the key, should be a bit safer, if he can't open it , he can't get in and get trapped.

Unhappy

If you pull the little bar to the side it will open the trunk. I decided to test that out one day and it works if your stupid friends don't hop on the trunk and hold it down.

I'd so kill my friends. NO ONE touches my car, let alone "hops" on it.
