JUN's 2.5
Has anyone read or seen the article in the impreza magazine vol 5. ITs about Jun's 2.5
they raised the displacement to a 2.6. Didn't see the point of doing that. Can someone clear that up. I can pick up some of the character here but still can read the article since it was in japanese and i am chinese. oh well. Anyone know the spec of that car? TIA Michael

Maybe they changed the cams to allow for better top end, then gave it larger displacement to make up for the lost torque when they changed cams? Hey wonder if they raised the redline? How much more can they take the displacement? Sounds cool though.

I have the article and a in process of having it translated for the guys at Rallispec. Basically, JUn built up a bad-ass turbomotor, using an EJ25 as the block, as it required less machining for the pistons they elected to use (which gave it the 2.6 displacement...slight overbre). I am unclear abut head specs (though the are listed, but the turbo is clearly a T77....very similar to what many of the fast FD3S and Supra guys use.

Actually, cylinder 4 is not the problem at all (at least on Sube's I have seen blown). On the EJ20 (particularly the STI V5/6 cars for some reason...sme of the UK gys can explain why) cylnder 3 tends to rn a bit leaner. I hae not seen any proof of this on the EJ25 though.
Jay is right, deally, you should have a probe in each bank. But, the best way to do it is to measure which pipe is longer (the ones from cyinders 1 and 2, or 3 and 4), and place it as far up the longest pipe as possible. This will give you the hottest region, which allows you to tune conservatively. |

As far as I could tell with my "B" in Japaneese language, the bore was kept the same. They used a JUN crankshaft which increased the stroke of the EJ25, therefore, creating a 2.6L EJ25 stroker.
