with too many lights...

Default The GFB (Ghetto Fab Bar) for Lights

4 hours and about $12 later yields this:

**EDIT: See later post for pics...**

Major mounting points are the two bolts that hold the radiator down. The points behind the license plate are purely to keep the bar from vibrating. The bits that sit on top of the bumper also help curb further vibrations.

Yeah so it's ghetto. But it's Ghetto Fab (for FABrications first, then FABulous).

All i have to do now is paint the thing black and then mount up the lights (pair of Hella 530 Amber Foglamps or Driving Lamps, depending on the situation). Now only if my PIAA Lamp Locks would get here...

It's stable and strong enough and the Hella 530's aren't that heavy so the weight is pretty much a non-issue.

[i love home depot...] [and Rapid_Roo loves lowes]

[$9 for three 1"x32"x1/8" zinc plated steel bars]
[$1 for four 10mm hex nuts]
[~$2 for four 10mm hex bolts]

Major Tools:

Large Countertop Vise
Drill Press
Hacksaw

Minor Tools:

[Sledge]Hammer
Cheaterbar (to bend the metal when it was already cut short)
Phillips and Flathead Screwdriver (to help disassemble the front grill and remove the license plate)
Metrinch Rachet/Wrench Set (greatest tool set evAr)

looks nice! but you forgot the lights

..hehe aren't you worried that the metal pieces that rest on the bumper are going to totally gouge your paint off every time you go over a bumpy road?

I'll put the lights on when i get my PIAA Lamp Locks.

I actually ground and rounded up the corners where they rest on the bumper, but i'll eventually put some rubber pads underneath too. Well, after i paint it black.

[i'll have more pics when everythings complete]

heh, the last time I had to do some metal fabricating, I didn't even have the luxury of a vise and sledge! it was more like C-Clamp and concrete floor!

*BASH! BANG!*

Copy/Paste the links into the address bar of your browser. (geocities doesn't like direct linking...)

That's where that was... I've been looking here and on wrxfanatics.com for it without avail... I read that thread a while back but i couldn't remember where it was. Yep, got my idea partially from there, and from what ATX25RS did for his bar...
