Impreza GC8 Edmonton: how many are running around in Hi-po rubber?

It was fun this morning, and interesting at lunch, but as the base layer was compacted and began to freeze, it was less comfortable than racing on Telford.

Anyone have any interesting anecdotes about the ride home?

I managed with only a failed stop that I made into a right-hand turn instead.

I saw the funniest thing today when I was driving around, I wish I had a video camera.

There was a lady driving down St. Albert trail this afternoon with her window rolled all the way down. (I was behind her) Well this truck drove past her, not speeding or anything she was driving really slow, and it spashed her good right through her open window. So she sped up and hung her head out the window and was yelling at this guy in his truck. He had the look like he didnt have a clue what she was yelling about. I got up behind her and rolled my window down a bit to hear. She was cussing up a storm.

And now for the best part. As she was hanging her head out the window yelling at this poor guy............he went through a huge puddle and just soaked her down, there was like a wall of water........and she got it right in the face.............
Man I almost pissed myself and crashed I was laughing so hard..................

My car stayed at home today, while I got a ride to work. I don't think I would have made it to work on my summer rubber.

I know I may be called insane or whatever for this... but I drove on summers all winter. I didn't really have much of a choice. I had only got the car in Dec. and couldn't afford winter wheels. I know it's dangerous and I don't think I would have done it if I didn't have the benefit of AWD, but it was a lot of fun... especially that one week with the frozen rain. These last few days have been a walk in the park compared to that. Kudos to Edmonton weather!

I'm on my summers. Have been for a week. The aren't ultra high performance summers, though. Then seem to work well enough on the ice and snow. They work amazingly on the dry and wet pavement... cold or not.

Got the z-rated on - it was fun driving to my client's office this morning. The owner's son just picked up a black 04 wrx with enkei 17s.

ps - Flex that's hilarious - I have a similar story about filling a guy's trunk full of water when I was out in our 4Runner.

Update:

Summer rubber + glare ice = BAD.

Luckily a guy I work with was in front of me and started sliding into the curb on a sweeping corner, so I hit the brakes (which did nothing), so I chose where to go off the road. My budy hit the curb going about 10 - 20 km/h, I went into a parking lot... I was lucky... his alignment is WAY off. This was this morning.

I know it's been beaten to death but all I can say is holy crap the RE-92's suck!!!
Put them back on last weekend and "discovered" I do have ABS on my car. I just realized how good my Semperit winter tires are. They were cheap, inspired confident driving in ALL conditions, and wore very very well. I had more control driving on Telford Lake during freezing rain with my winters than the other morning with the RE's.

Surprisingly enough, not one ditch. Mind you I was driving at about 1/4 of my normal speed. Then again, I don't mess around in weather like this. I like my life.
