Question Black goo that comes with factory brake pads?

I just got some new brake pads from the service department of my dealer and they came with two little packets of black goo. Call me stupid but what is this for? Where does it go?

Thanks in advance.

You always install brake pads with some lube... goes on the back side, against the caliper, of course.

That stuff is anti-squeal goop. Anti-seize works good for this purpose too. Most pad manufacturers don't use this stuff anymore. Most of them have a piece of metal (an anti-squeal shim) stuck to the back of the pad to keeps your brakes from squealing.
