I'm not a turbo guy, but i dont think top speed is changed (unless you change the gears in the transmission). 5th gear redlined in the RS gives 121 mph.

121? What about those people that hit about 130 calculated out at like 5800 rpm in 5th? I haven't done the math myself, but I think that is right...

I know that my car will more than 121. I have had it past that. Just don't know how fast I was going but it was fun.

What about speed limiters? I know in my L it cuts out at 112mph. I think my buddy's RS cut at 115...what gives

Uconn...
The RS doesn't have a speedlimiter. The L does since it runs on standard tires.
Car manufacturer's go by what stock tire as far as speed limiting. Since the RS comes with Z rated tires they don't put a limiter on.

As far as the top speed of a n/a I remember reading somewhere that they got it to the low 130s...
I haven't been up there but it seems it could so it....might take awhile though... ...

Cool

I had it up to where the needle points straight down, for about 5-10 min...
Guess it's about 125-130 real. Quick enough for the US. In germany you'd have to drive in the slow lane(if there are no speedlimit, trafficjams or trucks..) .

I had mine up to 115 on the way to a meet a few weeks ago up on the highway, nice and open 3 lanes. I don't live out in bufu where I can get it up any higher then that, though. Not enough straight road.

Cool

No turbo but..120+mph 5800rpms last night on the way home from work.. Playing with a VW Golf GTi . We had alot of fun on the open roads out here. We both did 4-wheel slides onto the on ramp and just had fun playing back and forth. We topped out at about 120mph and then slowed down to 100mph.. No other cars on the road and no flames please.

Since my speedo only goes to 120, I had a friend in a '94 Z28 pace me. At like 14 psi boost, and 5,500 RPM's I went almost 140 (he said 135-140 - hard to look long at that speed). I had more revs, but my car was leaning out big time, so I didn't want to push it. I have a '96 WRX tranny, and I'm sure with the right amount of power, and my near 7,000 rpm limiter, 150+ mph is possible.

I know a OBS can do 120mph. I know a RS can do faster then 120mph. I saw a OBS doing 120mph get tracked down by a MY99 RS. I wasn't in either of those two cars. I just had to ask them when we got to the club meet. Oddly enough it was a club meet that they were supposed to follow me to.

Oh well, i'll never go faster than 112 in my car. Its not worth it for me to spend my money so i can get a de-limiter. Besides, I rarely get a chance to get up that fast.

woah...i have only had my car up to about 105...but that is cus i no want to push it with the re92 and such. But mine felt like it had a @#$% load more to give me. This may because it is an auto, SO from what i understand not only do i have a 4.44 final ratio (?) , i also have a diff. set of gears in my RS. Anybody know what the auto will top out at?

Hey Greg, (N/A)

I hope your talking about the trip we took with Shawn Gilson from challenger Deep, up to Atco, NJ.

I'll never forget the look on the face of that guy in the M3 as the three of us blew past him.

I never looked at the speedometer, is that how fast we were going?.... Yikes!

With the stock RS 5th gear.......I had my car up to around 155-160mph running 18psi boost. I'm sure it was around there.....I was racing a Corrvette C5 that was done up. The car felt a bit scary at that speed.........but it was classic to see the guys face when he looked over and I was still there! Now I'm running a 96 Sti RA ratios, and now in 5th and at 4000rpm, I'm only doing 110kph!!! It will top out at 200kph(120) but its revving!!! At least with this gearbox, it makes me stay at the speed limit!!!

Question

So is there anyway for me to get rid of my limiter without spending much money?...ie. not purchasing an aftermarket part.

When I went too Germany in my STI IV I got upto 175mph indicated (no other cars on the road) with some pedal travel left, so allowing 10% for the speedo accuracy that makes it 157.5mph the car felt really stable but my a*s didn't so I backed it off.
