Thumbs down Xcelleration.com "430HP" kit installed on STi

Hey guys. I live in the Bel Air,Md area and helped my brother-in-law install this kit from Xcelleration.com. First I'd like to warn you guys, that this kit is WAY overpriced. I've had my share of fast cars including a 10 sec. RX7 and now own a EVO. I can smell a hoax and this is one. After installing the full exhaust, dastek piggy-back, and header, we took it for a test drive. Not only did we not feel much difference but the header had a exhaust leak from a weld joint! We called Xcelleration and they said 1 out of 20 leaks because they can't weld the joint properly and said it "usually" seals after heating up. What a joke! They actually admit to selling a botch product!! I will say that they were polite and offered to give us a replacement or money back, but thats not the point. After $3200 the products should be top notch and they weren't, nor did they give the HP results claimed. Just figured I'd warn you guys.

Although I knew this kit was fishy from the start, I'm sorry HE had to be the guinea pig. Thanks for a 'hands on' heads up, though.

Wasn't me. I own an Evo. It was my brother-in-law's STi. He was impatient and didn't want to wait for Turbo XS to bring the Utec out. Hind site being 20/20 he's now kicking hisself.

Got a question... Did you use new OEM gaskets for the heads and the turbo?

Sorry your friend had to find out the hard way. The kit seems a total ripoff, their claim on 430 hp and 435 torque is impossible on stock fuel and turbo.

Ernie,
Wassup? Sorry to hear about your bro-in-law That kit has been discussed several times on several boards and the consensus is that it's not legit....at least as far as the hp claim. I'm waiting for some better engine management before I mod, but I'm really dying to throw a TBE on
If your bro-in-law is interested, we can do a stock vs. modded comparison

damn did you guys see that dyno sheet? that's a lot of hp for a few mods like that.

-plug and play unichip dastek
-short ram intake
-one piece headers
-turboback with two cats
-intake elbow

dyno graph shows 455ft/lb and 426.6hp-- that's alot!

here is godspeed with a GT30R turbo upgrade with a WRX. I know one is with an STi and WRX. But this WRX is with an upgraded turbo and lots more parts!

It made 309ft/lb and 352hp

http://clubwrx.net/forums/showthread...threadid=48348

it's weird of these guys can outperform godspeed with a big GT30R compared to a vf39.

go figure.

To dig up an old post about this kit by me search for "TCF."

Basically anything other then 1 is a fudge factor.

If you really make 100hp on the dyno and you set your TCF to 1.3 your dyno plot will now read 130hp.

On any Dynapack if you see a TCF of greater then 1 you need to know there is a fudge factor being added to the numbers.

Hey Scott.......My brother-in-law and I ran when he was stock(STi) and I had a EVC and downpipe(EVO) and I pulled him by a car length every time. Im running 19psi and dowpipe only, with the stock cat-back. I also ran my neighbor in his STi just to see if it was driver error, but same result. I pulled him also by 1 car length every run, 2nd through 4th gear roll . Thats when he became impatient and bought the kit. I already convinced him to sell his piggy-back when the u-tech comes out from TurboXs.

Hey Ernie did you have the red RX7 and how long ago did you get rid off it. Why the EVO? What do you think of AWD. Big difference isn't it.

James,
Yea, I sold the red RX7 about 1 1/2years ago to buy a house. Now that I have a big house and a son, I bought an Evo. I was very much in debate over the STi or Evo for a long time. But, knowing I can't leave well enough alone. I would mod it out for sure. Sooo, I chose the proven 4g63. Nothing against the STi. Its got alot going for it, especially the drivetrain, but overall handling, seats, and upgradability I decided the Evo. I plan on buying another RX7 for drag racing only very soon. The guy the bought my RX7 has really put a beating on it since. He put a smaller turbo on it, cracked the front end and has some crazy bridgeport motor in it. Oh well, to each their own.

Here a few video's of me and the 7.

Take it from me,,that was one sweet RX7 that Ernie had
Ernie brought the car to one of the Subaru meets we had at the dealership awhile back,,,that meet is now referred to as " 35 Subarus and 1 RX7"
Not only did it look good but it was wicked fast.

I was thinking he could run his modded STi vs. my stock STi to see the difference...but I wouldn't want him to feel bad if I pulled him
We'll all have to get together sometime...w/ our 4 door play toys. It's a long way from the Supra's and RX7's of our younger, less responsibilities days, huh?
