Question Aftermarket Alarm Install/Recommendation

It's been a while since I've bought a car alarm, and I didn't get the factory one, so I need to get something for my new investment.
Anyone have recommendations on what alarms work well and what they might cost?

I also noticed that the factory seems to have a plug in the wire harness just waiting for the factory alarm. It looks like most of the wires needed for any car alarm are already at that connector. Has anybody used this when installing an aftermarket alarm? Anyone know what each color wire is, before I have to get out the VOM to trace it all out since I don't have a manual? Which brings me to another question, anyone know where to get a manual? Anything available besides the factory service manual that is halfway decent in both price and quality?

I have the OEM security manual scanned in. E-mail me if you want it. I'm not going to say how great the OEM alarm is it's just fair. However it is relatively cheap and very, very easy to install. My last car's alarm was just a blinking red LED I installed that came on when you shut the car off. So this is a big step up

Note: you have to have the keyless to install the Alarm it's an upgrade.

I have a Viper alarm with optional backup battery and radar sensor that I used in my Miata till I sold it Oct 98. Been in the box since then. Works with opening/closing door locks too, and has two remotes. I'll sell it to you cheap.

Cost me $350 installed, you can have it for $75 plus shipping. I WILL not put this on ebay if one of you wants to buy it before Sunday night.

Thumbs up

I have installed the Clifford Inteleguard. I have both Shock and Prox. sensors....the prox can be adjusted by the remote.

You can also customize the alarm with different sound and sirens.....they can be downloaded into the alarm.

I've owned a Python alarm....HIGHER end model of the Viper....it had back-up battery and radar sensor and pager unit. I liked it....but I think the Clifford is a much greater alarm. Cost for the Clifford was about $500.00 Installed

Only the best for my Suby.
