The Raw is out, I believe Live Evil Fansubs is planning on subbing it soon, Episodes 1 and 2 are being worked on as we speak.

Its just airing now in japan, probably won't make it here officially for 1 year or more. But who would want them when they get here if Tokyopop gets them and edits them to hell like they are doing now to Stages 1-3. Keep an eye out on the internet for subbed versions, or at anime import stores. Boycott Tokyopops Initial D in american stores now, they are edited and NOT the original!!!

I rented one of the Tokyopop videos from a blockbuster. They have the original japanese dialog/soundtracks as an option, so what's the problem?

I have the set got from E-Bay and 3 of the Toykopop DVD's (From the beginning to the race with the R32) and the Dialog is different from the sets I have.

The Tokyopop version even when watching the japanese dialog/soundtrack is cut, and some of the dialog is changed around as well. Either way the TokyoPop version is not the true Initial D. You haven't watched Initial D if you only watch TokyoPop's version of it.

For any anime fans out their this kind of reminds me of what Carl M. did when he brought robotech over here, he edited Macross in the same way TokyoPop did. I think back then it was alright to do that because no one really knew what anime was, but once a lot of people saw it they got really interested in Anime. But now TokyoPop is doing it when just about everyone knows a little about anime so they should never have done this to Initial D. I say **** Them!

I have all of the Japanese (from ebay) sets and I was looking forward to getting a high quality English dubbed version when it came out here. After all how difficult would it be to get a good transfer of the original, hire some good voice actors and keep the original music, names and story lines? To say that I was disappointed doesn't come close -- I was appalled at the horrible job that TokyoPop did in murdering this fine Anime. The English dialogue and expresions must have been written by a bunch of 50 year old men (I am one so I know) who sat around trying to come up with "hip" expressions that they knew "young people" were using. Furthermore the bad rap music often drowns out the dialogue (a blessing!). If you are unfortunate enough to only own the US release then don't bother with the English version, listen to it in Japanese with original music. It still isn't the real thing but it won't make you want to run over the CD many times with your car. This version makes Drangonball Z look and sound like a high quality production.

I am excited about the 4th Stage though. Can't wait to see it in a decent Japanese edition.

I agree the english version was horrible, but you guys just sound like elitist anime fans

At least they bothered taking the risk and bringing initial d to the states - And it has the japanese version 'mostly' intact. So quit yer bitching or just go d/l the originals!

<-thinks the catonese sub was more irritating than the tokyopop japanese subs.

Yeah, we are probably anime fanboys, but I mean who wouldn't want the original cut. Its kind of like Star Wars (the good trilogy) and what Lucas did for the Special Edition versions. I would much rather have the originals then the edited ones he did in the late 90's.

Small things, but I like seeing original, uncut work.

The translated subtitles are different, or the actual japanese audio track is different? I would expect the subtitles to be slightly different, since it's Tokyopop's translation and not the amatuer fansub translation. Translations are never exact.

I forgot to mention... I have projectors =)

This won't be an anime fest on little dinky TV's.

I'm thinking 7ft wide screen (a.k.a. wall).

Big speakers and sub...and 3 couches, seats 7, then I've got those cool fold-out $9 canvas chairs you can pick up at any outdoors store.

Fridge/freezer for beer/sake.

It should rock =)
