Default exhaust leak?

I just put on the TWE headers and got new gaskets for them, but now im gettin smoke from where they connect to the manifold. Would this be an exhaust leak? If so, how do i got about fixin it?

hah, I think it was just the penetrent burning off because the smokes seems to lessen as it idles.

I am getting some water out my exhaust tho, think that will go away?

anyway, time for ecu reset and a drive.

new headers/piping will smoke at first,
takes a bit of driving for that to burn off...

there's typically some condensation in most exhausts..

get out there and get on it and it'll burn off

the smoke is gone, but I think there is a leak though. When I let off the gas there is kind of a hissing noise followed by a pop ever once in a while. I'm guessing its from the header to the cat. I'm just going to try to tighten the bolts some more, or maybe get some sealant and redo it. Anyone know exactly what kind works best?

Thanks

Let the car idle (secure it from rolling ) then skid yourself under it by your header. You will know if you have a leak. If not, it might only leak when you are on the throttle.

An exhaust leak will not manifest itself only when you let off of the accelerator (the exhaust traveling out the pipe has momentum, and causes a vacuum at the valves which now have wery little exhaust coming out ot them, since the throttle body is closed). Exhaust leaks also rarely "hiss" (unless it is a leak before a turbo), exhaust travels in pulses, and almost all exhaust leaks will be a pst pst pst pst, or a tapping sound.

THe pop is going to be a normal occurance.

Greg
