So ive been running around with a SOHC EJ25 running off my EJ18 ECU in my 1995 L AWD 5 speed. I only have a cone filter and exhaust done (borla headers, no cats, dynomax glasspack, flowmaster 40 series all 2.25" piping) I went with my Audi buddies this saturday and my car eneded up on the dyno.
116.1 HP @ 5,500 RPM 122.9 Torque @ 4,500 RPM THese were done on a mustang dynamometer on a beatiful 70 degree day. THe results were better than I was expecting, considering my car had 110HP at the flywheel originally. Just thought Ide post this in case anyone was wondering.

That seems low for the mods, but that redline and EJ18 ECU probably didnt help...

It was actually more than i was expecting. You should have seen the black smoke it was spewing out too. I never did get around to leaning out the mixture. Another interesting thing which I have never experianced before was alittle detonation top of 4th. I guess with my car being so light ive never had that much load on it untill it was tied down. 2nd run went fine though. It was interestnig to see max power was made so high at 5,500 then leveled off until redline.
Just for comparison sakes, an A4 1.8t quattro with a chip, exhaust and a K04 turbo upgrade ran 129HP to the wheels right before me. |

I think the dyno was way off there, the a4 1.8t has over 160hp stock, and would have close to 180-185 with the mods you listed. I would run it again if i were you

180 at the crank should be around 129 at the wheels...doesn't sound off to me.

Yeah, this is wheel, not crank HP he got from the dyno. Sounds about right to me. But I'm guessing the EJ25 ECU will net you even more power.

No doubt the EJ25 ECU would give me more power but i was pleased with what i got with the 1.8 ECU. It was alittle better than I expected. TO be fair i think the A4 was messed up. A different, totally stock 2001 5 speed quattro 1.8t A4 with engine package (170HP) ran a 127 to the wheels on the same dyno also. For being the easiest swap to do, I think it was worth it.

An Impreza L is a lighter car than an A4 too, so your car should hold it's own against the 1.8T, despite being a few hp behind.

Hello Hawk,
Any updated dyno information on your ride? Did you ever get an EJ25 ECU? Just curious! |
