Default i broke somthin

ok i was changing the plugs and my rachet sorta hit the alt. and shorted somthin out, my radio was on at the time and it shut off, and a few seconds later it came on again. so im thinkin alls good and for added safety i unplug the battery...ok plugs are done and i go to start the engine and it makes a click and everything goes dead...i disconnected the battery and connected it again thinkin it mught be a bad connection..i put the key in the on position and all the lights on dash come on like normal but when i go to start it, it just clicks again and then is dead...i checked all the fuses iunder the dash and found 1 under the hood, is there a main fuse somwhere? anyway if anyone has some input id appreciate it.

um it was a stupid thing really the positive terminal was just really corroded and i sanded it down to get a good contact, i guess the scoobs have some sort of fail safe so you dont f up the electronics. so i guess i really didnt hurt anything.

SAme thing happened to me the ither day at the gas station, car was running fine. Pulled in, filled up, and go to take off *click* nothing happens, no lights nothing.
so I push the car into the parking lot and after cursing for a few minutes I try to clean the contacts with a butter knife. started right up after that.

Well, atleast it did it to you when you were stopped, mine actually shut off just after i was pulling into a road to go to wal-mart. Talking about a scare... good things i had friends with me to keep me from freaking out because I had just gotten the car like a month before.
