Default Bug/stone deflector

I went to install ours yesterday and found it to be a quite moronic layout. There are these delicate little inserts that are to go into the holes in the hood. Not only do they easily break they don't remain in the hole while inserting the screw. I am going to go and get some sheet metal screws that actually work in the hole. Has anyone else actually gotten this thing on with the supplied fasteners?

Yes, I've got one on our bugeye wagon and on my crosseyed wagon. The design and hardware on my '04 is a total pain compared to the bugeye.

They are a pain to get on sometimes, however both are very sturdy and can even be taken through a touchless car wash near my house.

Ours is a bugeye! You mean the Xeyed one is WORSE! I am trying to find a screw that will utilize the same hole right now without using those stupid clips.

"Worse how could it get any worse, Jehovah, Jehova, Jehova!"

I got it on in no time. No thanks to the POS hardware that was included. An intern must have thought of those. I used 4 #14 X 3/4 LG sheet metal screws instead. They needed a little bit of messaging to get in there but it worked like a charm!
