How can you change the steering ratio?

Has anyone ever changed their steering ratio in an RS? I imagine you'd just have to take pieces from the WRX's or STi versions and swap them in the place of ours, but I'm not sure what or how much it'd cost. nyone got a clue? And for that matter, which part(s) would have to be switched? The power steering unit or the rack itself?

I would also like to know. Those rally ratios are really crazy, easily lock to lock with no problem, no arm twisting...

I would thing those swaps would be out because of the LHD as opposed to RHD problem.

Unfortunately DAUTHI is right. I talked with Rallispec about this and they had researched it at length. They found that all the LHD WRXes and STi's all use the same rack we have. The better racks are only for RHD. You could always have custom work done but I could think of better ways to spend that much money.

Of course you could use an aftermarket competiton steering box like all the groupA/ WRC cars use. But that will proabably cost about 5 grand.

The P1 does not have the standard UK rack, it uses the standard STi rack which is 15:1 the original rack was supposed to be the 22B one which is 13:1 UK cars are about 17:1 i think, though may be wrong with that.

About two years ago I was looking into a close ratio steering box for my 95 legacy. I found one that came from a dealership in cyprus... It would have fit and all, but I was still in college and never had more than $100 to my name. They are out there guys, Just gotta find 'em
