Default Simple oil change interval dbl check

Just wanted to check what I'm reading in my MY04 manual. Is the oil change interval above 7500 miles every 7500 miles? Seems pretty high since synthetic isn't specified.

Just double checking that I'm reading this maintenence book right.

Thanks

Yes, and it really isn't high. 7,500 is fine for most cars.

Sense I do about 50% driving under 5 miles per trip I split the difference between 3750 and 7500 miles so I change oil& filter at 5,000 miles. Ed Hayes

Why do people have such a hard time deciphering the manual?

7500 miles is the extended drain interval for non-severe driving.
3750 is the drain interval for severe driving.

Determining which interval to use is up to you, depending on your driving habits. Lots of short trips? Redline it all the time? Then you should probably follow the severe driving schedule. But if all your trips are on the highway and you spend all your time at 2k rpms in 5th gear, then you'll probably be fine with the non-severe schedule.

Generally, on average, should they change 7500 miles or 3750? Because I drive normally, local and highway.. Once in a while, I drive to like 6k RPM

So what am I?

Abnormal since you don't redline it! Otherwise, I would say you are normal as far as the service manual is concerned.
