Post other 2.5 engine

I was wondering if the engine from other 2.5L manual Subaru (like the Legacy or the Forester) or even an older Impreza will bolt onto a MY00 Impreza RS transmission?

Thanks,

Joe

the 2.5 motor in the legacy Gt and the forester should be the same.Subaru uses the same motor on the upper ends models to keep price down thats how they can afford to keep an all-wheel drive the same price as a two wheel drive

I believe they changed the engine to transmission bolt pattern in '99.

the forester got the 7 bolt tranny in '99 and some '99 Indiana-built models have them too. (props to Trey Cobb for discovering the "Phase 1.5" engines-- DOHC on top, phase II bottom end, 7 bolt tranny)

so if it's a '99 Legacy or Outback, check the build date and check the tranny.
