The police report said the other car, the Pathfinder, was going approx 60 mph. The guy driving it said to the fire fighters he was going 50 mph (while fishing around in the back seat ). Appearently that guy was not injured when they carted him off in the ambulance, he just had an anxiety attack.

My wife is heading to the doctor tomorrow, she's still sore in the neck, shoulders, and back. Hopefully we can wrap up this mess with the insurance companies by the end of this week and maybe take a 3 day weekend off soon. Mom needs it.

That sucks! If you are going to scrap it, I would strip some parts off to sell. You could still make a pretty penny off somethings like the front end, engine, interior, ect.

Wow a 50-60 mph crash and thats all that happened!! lucky lucky..I feel 100% safer in my baja now. Thats a HUGE accident at that speed! My friend was going 70 and hit a lady on the turnpike doing about 40 (he was looking in the back seat too ) and his dodge ram looked like he dropped it off a clif! I think you should get a new baja too! A turbo so you can get out of the way quicker!!!

Thanks Samirr76 for posting the pictures.
Indeed the Baja did well. My wife has alot of lingering soreness, whiplash, slight concussion, hairline rib fracture, and general aches. My kids seem un-effected.

The insurance co. took the car and sold it to a salvage place which is ok with me. Its better to have a solid, never been battered, unibody...incase the unthinkable ever happens again. I feel bigger is not better, its all in how it wrinkles. If there was a full frame under this car I think the passengers would have absorbed more of the impact energy. The actual impact speed was probably less than 60 but no one will know for sure.

We would love to get another Baja, maybe a turbo, maybe not. We're waiting to see how the payoff pans out. My wife is still uneasy about driving at this time, but because we have another Subaru she'll do it. I'm the one forced to drive the 1987 toyota celica p.o.s. that was lent to us by a friend I've been teaching her how to bring attention to yourself when coming to a stop anywhere, so being rearended is less likely to happen again.
