Default Subwoofer in Baja

I took my Baja to a few custom shops to see if I can fit in a subwoofer. Just like I had thought all the shops told me that there is really no space to put a subwoofer. Has any one had any success putting one in ?

Also how is the subwoofer from the factory ? It looks really small to me and I wonder if I can get a good bass effect if I installed it.

Please suggest.

Thanks.

I have heard that the Subie sub puts out some good power but if you can try and check out the Kenwood WOOX it is a small sub amp coambo that is ajustible If you are keeping your stock deck i would say stick with the stock sub but if you want or have an aftermarket deck you ight want to check out the woox set-up

I have talked to my local custom shop and they havn't had enough experiance with them to custom something or what ever. But I asked them about the w00x and they said that it was a not worth the money. They said that the stock would probally be just as good as the w00x and 1/2 the price (espically second hand). So I was hoping someone with the Baja T and/or the 100w sterio give me a good review and comparison.

I tried to put Woox. It does not fit under the seat. It is about 3 inches more than the space under the seat.

I have mine connected to my aftermarket DVD Head unit. It just plugs inline with the wire harness.

I eventually want to do that as well. Just need to find the time. To lazy to look but do they need another amp? If so has anyone found a good place to put one? I'm guessing under the drivers seat?

I run a 12 inch Power Acoustik sub in the back of my baja. I have a pioneer HU in the front. Took a couple days to wire up but I dont regret the performance. It shakes the whole entire car. Too bad the sub was defective and burnt after 10 minutes. Tomarrow I get another one. Anyways it is really worth it to build your own custom box and stuff. I ran my wires under the car. There is a nice plug in the firewall next to the gas pedal that I router my wire through.

Can you post a pic of your sub location? I'm not a Baja owner yet - considering buying one in the spring. But I know that I'd like to upgrade the sound system if I bought one. I don't need a lot of power. I have an Infinity Basslink in my current car and that's fine for me. I just don't know of a good mounting location in the Baja.

I have a Headunit, 8" sub and a Amp, and a 10disc cd changer, and Sirius satelite radio from my P/U that will be crossing over, also has anybody installed satelite radio? Where did you put the tuner? What about a CD Changer?

If you don't want a lot of power, you might like the upgraded speakers and tweeters and the in dash 6 disc 100 watt receiver that comes standard in the Turbo model. Some don't like it ,but i think it sounds pretty good. The factory sub sounds better with the 80 watt than the 100 watt.I had an 03 and i put the upgraded speakers/tweeters and sub in it and made a big difference in sound.

Who makes the upgraded system? I'm aware that it's an option, but since Subaru isn't talking about their "Bose System" or their "Infinity System" I don't have very high hopes for it.

My Eclipse has an Infinity system that quite frankly is the best factory sound system I've ever heard (after my addition of the Basslink). My wife has a Jetta with the Monsoon system that quite frankly sucks.

Clarion makes all of their audio systems. Upgraded or not.

Well, I have to admit that I've never heard a Clarion system, so I'll have to give it a listen. Is the upgraded system in other Subaru vehicles as well? There's only 1 Baja at a Buffalo dealership and it doesn't have it installed.

Subaru only uses Clarion for their Audio. Like usual, the Stock system is just a Stock system noting ausome. The upgraded system that I have in my Baja Turbo was the best I have heard for a stock system. I then upgraded my HU and the upgraded speakers sound 100% better. I thought that I might want to upgrade my speakers, but it turns out that I won't need to. I just now need to get the Clarion Aftermarket under seet sub woofer. It is suposed to be a lot better than the Subaru sub.

I haven't added a sub in my Baja yet, was thinking of looking into a junkyard pull (if I could find one) to save some cash. I'm not opposed to spending good money on quality equipment, just wasn't aware of much else that would fit. (I've read the wOOx sub thread somewhere on the board, felt more comfortable with the OEM unit.) Got any info on this Clarion aftermarket part?

here is the website for the unit:
http://www.clarion.com/usa/product/i...product=SRV303

I have seen it for as little as $212.45 from cardomain:
http://www.pricegrabber.com/search_g...&search=srv303
or 179.95 from http://carstereoworld.com/clarion/clarmain.html

Get rid of the backseat if you dont need it. I sure didnt. Soon I will be making a custom "floor" for where my new custom sub box will be sitting. I so far removed the top part of the back seat, and the head cushions. I have no pictures yet, but I do have pics when I first started the project. All I can say is the rear view mirrow is worthless, my lights dim, my batt dies in 10 minutes TOPS if the engine aint running, had the cops at my door once, and I dont put drinks on my roof anymore. I cant wait for my brahama 15 but I just spent a couple hundred tonight to replace the factory door speakers

Like I said, this is all TEMPARARY and it was when I JUST PUT IT IN but it is to give you an idea. I'm only 16 and I aint employed. I can only get 1 expensive thing for my baja a month. Cant wait for my infinity's to come

2003Baja, I'm not an audio expert but I would think your sub would sound better if you pointed it towards the back of the truck or up in the air. Pointing it directly at the driver would distort the sound field. Beside, Bass is non directional while your other frequencies are. You don't want to hear any part of them comming out of the sub even with a crossover.

I am working on an 8" sub. I have the factory sub and polk momo db 6500's and a DVD system with a screen in the dash. (Search for "BAJA TFT" to see pictures.) I also have placed a 680w amp under the drivers seat. My HU is non-powered. I was going to make the sub box from fiberglass but I think I can acheive the same effect with MDF and paint. It is going to fit in that worthless section between the back seats where the cup holders are now. I have started it and will post pic's soon. Since my 8" sub requires a volume of .35f^3 it'll have to be 9x15x7in to fit between the seats. That means it will stick up but you can still use the back seats. I have a snuglid so I'm not worried about storing things.

Nice project you got going there! Honestly I have tried other positions but the way it is pointed now is my favorite prefrence. I ripped half the inside out yesterday. Installing infinity refrence speakers in the doors. Putting a 400 watt profile amp under the passanger seat. cant wait to hear them.
