Default 05 impreza STi and 05 Legacy GT

Do both of the cars have the same 2.5 Engine with the DOHC and AVCS? Sorry if this may sound dumb, Im a little new to Subarus. Purchasing an 05 Legacy GT, and was wondering if its the same power plant. Thanks for your time.

No. The legacy GT will have a 2.0 turbo. I don't know about the AVCS,

i also heard engine management may be different/more complicated on the legacy, but that is just a rumor, but Jaxx has it right with the other info.

the thing to worry about is if the new legacy will be offered with the wrx's 5sp tranny.

If yes then GameOver wont be trading in his STI for a legacy

If it's anything like the Forrester XT it's actually simpler...at least that what it seems like because the STI UTEC has more functionality on the Forrester XT than on the STI...the rev limiter works on the XT but not the STI.

Doh! woops. I guess I was too tired to type www.need-desire.com and look for myself when I was unsure. Sorry

I have a brochure on the 05 Legacy GT that states the 5 speed is a "reinforced" unit. Which is good, because I'm getting one

Yeah, SOA lurned their lesson with the WRX's tranny. All those dumb kids trying to do burnouts and power shifting. They "reinforced" the 5 speed on the new Legacy. Although I'm hesitant about the 5EAT that thay have now. Only time will tell with that.

um no again
the proublem with the wrx tranny (which is based off a design that is 20 years old) is the absence of better syncros doubble and tripple like most cars (6speed) have .. the case flex proublem really only tends to show it welf under extream conditions... hopefully the "new" 5 speed will have addressed the sycro proublme

if you had been looking in the News & Rumors section, you'd see that the new 5spd box indeed has double syncros as well as being "reinforced" otherwise.

Same engine, tranny, etc as Forester. The reinforcing is webbing of the crank case like in Forester to stop flexing under torque.
