I've driven those on a friend's Stealth turbo. Very firm sidewalls, good grip wet and dry, but they track like crazy. I can't fairly rate the grip because I've never driven other tires on that car (it's a 3600lb 320HP behemoth) but I think they gripped okay. They seem to be wearing pretty well.

Matt C, next time you get Kumhos, or anyone else on the East Coast, call up RalliSpec. In fact, for any tires, call them. They have great prices for tires. And you can go there, get them mounted and balanced... and you get to see their cool arse shop!

Trust me I just went from Toyoz to Nitto's and man those tires suck! They suck in the rain and when its dry. Definately don't buy them.

Hey Al, just thought I'd throw in one more "The Nitto 450's Suck" vote for you, just in case. To paraphrase Homer Simpson paraphrasing Ned Flanders "They Suh-diddley-uck!"

I watched a friend fight them on his GS-R for thousands of miles, several auto-x's, and a few road races. Eventually he gave up and bought A032R's for the track and PZero's for the street. He STILL can't say enough bad things about the Nitto's.

I'm running the Khumo's right now. Not NEARLY as sweet as my set of Toyo T1+'s, but they're also half the price.

Cheers.

Pincole,

You don't have to tell me about Rallispec. I have probably given them more money than anybody else. Most of the stuff on my car was either bought throught them, or installed by them. That includes a turbo kit, clutch, suspension, exhaust, pipercross filter, mounts, and all of the electronics. They made a gauge pack, and a custom mount for my AFC too.

I also have their OZ superturismos. They didn't tell me when I bought the rims that they sold Kumhos. If they did I would have bought the tires from them.

They are great guys, and they know what they are doing. My car is actually there now getting 2nd gear replaced(doh!).

I used them on 99 Legacy wagon for a couple months and i was not happy with them. They were not worth the money. Better bet is the yokohama's and bridgetones.. Or even those Sumatra's(sp)..

No grip at all in any conditions, and they NEVER wear out so you can't even burn them off. In fact they are so JUNK I like the RE-92s BETTER!

I have BF Goodrich t/a g-force KDW's ... great in the dry and the wet... even considering we can only buy 205/55ZR16 (y rated) instead of 205/50/16, the sidewall is very stiff... Not the cheapest but very good...

Thumbs up Anyone have any experience with Nitto NT-450 "Extreme" tires?

These tires are going for $92 a piece at Carclub.com but I was wondering if they are worth the price. Are they good dry tires? They do come in "V" speed ratings but is there a better tire for less money? Any ideas???? The price qoute is for 205/55/R16 (factory stock size) I have Eibach springs that have lowered my car about 3/4 of an inch. What other sizes will fit the stock 16 inch rim and not rub? I know that this topic has been beaten to death, but it is easier to ask than to search ALL of the archives.

Thanks! ARG

Ummmm if you don't mind the shorter width go with 195/50/16 Dunlop SP 9000's for only $105 ea from tire rack. Or get AVS I's if you can find them.

Do not buy Nittos! They are the worse tires I have ever driven. The Kumho 712's are much nicer, and cheaper. You can find them at www.tirerack.com

hey,
if you want a tired that looks pretty, handles like *****, and appears on 2/3 of all ricers...then grab em......if not, there are plenty of tires in that price range you can get. If you are looking for stock size, look at the Bridgestone RE730. I have em, great buy..amazing tires.

Well how about this tire at Tirerack.com. It is a Sumitomo HTRZII in 205/50/VR16 for only $83.00? It seems to be highly rated.

Just another vote against the Nitto's.

A friend of mine in a Prelude SH with these was trying to follow me (99.5 GTI Dunlop SP5000) and he ended up sliding off the road before my tires were even coming close to the limit. And it wasn't driver error as he can outdrive me easily.

He ditched the tires the next day for RE-730's and loves them.

Question

Robin2,
could you comment on how the BFG G-Force' compares to anything else?

I have a completely trashed set of Toyo Proxies T1's, which I am quite happy with, but I'm allways looking to improve.

I'm mainly interested in it's autocross/Solo 2 and track capabilities, but any commentary will do.

Thanks!

ASNG

ASNG,

I can't really compare them to another performance tire but I'll compare to the RE92's...

Overall, the KDW's are pretty good considering I remained stock size instead of going to 50 profile.

They warm up pretty quick and grip a lot. In the wet, they grip almost as much as in the dry. They channel the water out very efficiently...

They humm a bit from 25-50mph... but you don't hear them if the radio is on... They let you know when they're reaching their adhesion limits otherwise they're very quiet in corners...(mind you I have 20mm sway bar, solid links and KYB struts)...

Where the RE92 in the rain, if you went hot into a corner, the car would simply go straight, these you're able to follow your route without any doubt...

Overall very pleased...

Here's 2 post from one of our club member here in Ottawa Canada... He bought them first, so I had a good idea they were good...
