Default PDE Downpipe with High-Flow Cat

I haven't seen this piece reviewed yet so I thought I would post this. I recently purchased both the PDE flex uppipe and the PDE downpipe with the fixed high-flow cat from Speedabsolute. Great vendor by the way. Very patient and helpful and he even followed up with me a couple of weeks later to see if I was satisfied.

Both pieces are top-notch quality. Fit and finish were flawless. I installed them with the Prodrive silicone Y-hose and the Bosal 3 inch single-tip catback also. Very noticeable difference in both spool time and power. It definitely spools faster now, maybe 200 RPM's and it pulls much harder in 2nd and 3rd. I am very happy with it. I put the EGT sensor back into the uppipe and for the two weeks before I installed my Accessport I got no CELS whatsoever.

Now that I am at 93 octane stage 2 with the Accessport it pulls even harder in 2nd and 3rd. I couldn't be happier with the results. I don't have any intention of pushing any more horsepower on the stock block, so I am very pleased with the power and responsiveness. I know you have seen these types of reviews ad nauseum so let me just recap by saying that the PDE pieces were really beautiful and fit perfectly. Again, kudos to Matt at Speedabsolute. Great vendor, great parts.

So, Mrobe, it's a good match for the Cobb Stage 2, then?

TIA

Absolutely. I don't know what kind of horsepower I might have lost with the high-flow cat in place, but I have to pass emissions here in Ohio. They do a visual and then pull your OBD-II codes to see if there are any cat inefficiency cels. This should take care of that because the Accessport takes these out anyway. The car pulled hard when I installed the uppipe and downpipe and Y-hose and catback. When I added the Cobb 93 octane stage 2 it pulled even harder. It's like a totally different car now. Of course, in a good way.

cobb claims no hp loss with their downpipe with high-flow cat so I bet you are doing ok too

PDE is a nice piece, wish I had the money

I just checked out the price, too.
A bit rich for my blood, unfortunately as well.

Thank you for the great review Mrobe! PDE does make premium products which tend to cost a bit more than alternatives - the trade-off can quickly be seen in quality, fit and constuction as Mrobe mentioned.

If others are interested in PDE's line-up or if you have general questions, please call or email me as I am very glad to help.

I was thinking of getting the PDE upipipe, but I'm waiting for a street legal TBE (Cobb???). What accessport maps do you use with just an uppipe?

I'm fairly certain that if you remove/replace the catalytic converters on your car then it is not street legal. I don't recall the Federal requirements but if you are in California you are supposed to keep the same number of cats that the car came with and you aren't supposed to touch them for 5 or 6 years (unless they are damaged). Again, I'm not positive on the details, but this is why all exhaust modifications are sold for "off-highway use only".
