Default SAFC question

Well,

I've been doing some research and there are a few points I would like to make clear for myself about a SAFC. Is it true that the ECU learns around it in the MY02 RS'? I just have the standard mods and I wanted to know if I could just make my car more efficient and try to help find some power.

I was thinking of getting headers instead. Ugh, confusion.

get headers or better yet some suspension mods, i have an safc2 on an 02rs and i notice minimal gains if anything. mainly a slightly stronger pull at the top of third and into fourth. It makes power a little smoother. I think the safc2 wont be usefull until i install my street cams.

the power mods i currently have are cobb intake, gfb pulleys, borla headers, custom midpipe with scoobysport axleback. exedy sport clutch and exedy lw flywheel and safc2.

one thing to note is that i did not have it professionally tuned, i just started leaning fuel slightly. once i install street cams im going to have the safc2 and an apexi itc installed and tuned professionally, hopefully then they will be beneficial.
but even then i will still be battling against the stock ecu
id say spend the money else where!

Cool.

The thing is money. I was looking at stuff in the $200 range used. I would do suspension but the next step would be either a STi setup or some coilovers. I just wanted a little more umph out of my car. I have pretty much everything the same as you except the headers and the drivetrain parts. Also eventually I can make use of the S-afc when do my project car.

Also since I have a slushbox, anything would be helpful

If you haven't changed anything on your suspensnion yet, I highly recommend getting a rear sway bar/endlinks. It makes a whole lot of difference. And that's in the $200 range about.

I did my suspension stuff already. As I said before the next step would be a STi v7 setup or some coilovers

Suspension first then power
