Default E-town: Fender rolling

Has anyone here roll their fenders either DIY or at a shop. I think I need it done as my rears are rubbing with the new wheels and 215 tires.

Thanks,
Mike

Hahah, damn mike. What did u get?

I JUST sent my car into Showcase Auto Works, and they will be shaving, not rolling my rear fenders. Mark will be doing the same.

Gimme a ring on my cell or at work. I'll PM the details to you.

Since we are on this subject I was just reading for the wrx wagon the 17" tires should be 215 and not 225? does it make that much of a difference? does anyone have any experience with 17" wheels on a wagon? here was the link.

Hey Guy's

I've ordered some wheels from Aaron at Northern Performance and they should be here in the next couple of days. I went through the whole dilemma of 215 or 225 and I decided to go with the 225's. If they don't work I will be rolling/cutting my fender's too.

Chris did you consider rolling the fenders your self? Does anyone have experience doing it them selves?

I don't know of anybody who has personal experience locally with this. As far as i know, i think i'm the first one actually getting it done on a suby. Then mark, then jason, then mike.

As for doing it myself, i don't got the time, nor the expertise. Ghetto way i've heard is take a heat gun, warm up the paint and use a baseball batt to roll the fenders. My friend said that they is a machine in calgary that u could rent that attaches to ur HUB to roll the fender, but he's never seen it. Just heard about it.

Found this link in Tires and Wheels Eastwood Fender Roller

Looks interesting. Expensive for the one time you would use it. Maybe others are interested.

just put on the new rims/tires and went for a spirited drive around downtown.

NO MORE RUBBING!! Wooooo hooooooooooooooooooo.

They did a good job, and there is about a 1.5-2cm lip left that is sealed w/ an epoxy compound. U guys can check it out on Sunday.

Be extremely careful, the metal cuts/rips very easily. Be sure to put an epoxy based sealant over the exposed metal once you are done. If no water travels up underneath the paint along the body creating rust that you will not notice until it is through the metal. Damn Subaru paint.

Yes, B. The shop would be a better place to do it. Reason being is that I can spray on the epoxy sealer as opposed to painting it on. Seeing that your car is the same color as the sealant, you'll never see it. Make sure to bring the wheels and tires that you plan on using. That goes for anyone here. It really is not that difficult.
