Default Opinions and Enlightenment Sought

OK, since posting about how I don't like my Gun Metal Wheels, I'm going blind lookin' for wheels I do like. Jeez, there must be million on the web, minus the one's that I like, BUT, they're 18" and they don't come in 17"

1. Are 18" chrome too bling for a Black/Black '04 Turbo? The ones I like are just 5 flat spokes, not all gicked up with rivets and such

2. With 235/45? I'm never going off-road... Will they rub?

3. Apparently gun metal and anthracite are cool. Do you really like your gun metal's?

4. WT_F does "bump" mean? I am SO not cool, or whatever ; (

The Kazera KZ-A's in chrome that I do like are at

Default Link to the wheel I like..

I think this:

http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Displ...=Chrome+Plated

will take you there.

I suppose with the 45 profile I gotta worry about curb rash too...

Post Wheels

I too have an 04 Black/Black Turbo. My dealer went and got it from another one because I didn't want the mono-Blue they had or the White that was coming in. All the other ones with the silver cladding look a little tacky to me. (Although the yellow/silver combo is just outrageous enough to be cool --- but no turbo in that color.)

Personally I like the muted wheels. I don't like a lot of shiny chrome on a black car like this so I wouldn't go with the wheels you're thinking of, but that's just my taste. I'm also blacking the Subaru logo on the tailgate and looking at my options for the chrome trim that surrounds the grill. I'm of two minds about the rollbars -- either keep them as the only chrome accents or black them too. Can't decide yet.

Default We agree on a lot!

yep, the only other color I was interested in was the yellow/silver combo cuz it was so outrageous...

Actually it was the chromed sport bars that got me thinking of chrome wheels! That, and the fact that I thought (wrongly) that the OEM chrome wheels came with the 4EAT. So when it showed up with the gun metal I was surprised.

I'm learning to like the gun metal, but clearly it's a generational thing...and...let's just say... I liked Jimi in person ; )

How did you "black out" the Subaru in back? I've already painted out the grill...it's easy to take off and I just shot it with some OEM black trim, it looks great! But, as I suspected, the paint is flaking off where there's chromed metal vs. plastic. I'll take it off again and either pull off the metal, or roughen it up. The blacked out grill makes the Baja look like a separate body, not like a Forester with a bed. I left the badge cuz it's integral and I'm not ready to debadge yet...I've added the hood deflector, and with the black paint, the deflector is almost impossible to see!

Also, taking off the crossbars trims the profile nicely and cuts down wind noise.

I think any Subaru specific (rota, prodrive, 5-zigen, BBS, ect) wheels will work. I saw the SOA Rally support Baja with Prodrive wheels and they looked like a correct fit. Recently I've looked thru the Subaru general broshure and the legacy and OBS have the Baja rims too. Your best bet is to swap with a WRX owner for an hour or so, in your area, to make sure the fit is good. I doubt you'll have probs with rubbing. Personally, I think keeping the right tire profile (taller for Baja) will look better on the Bajas, unless you lower the Ba-jeezus out of it, then a low profile tire will look excellent.

I wanted to take off the crossbars on ours but she said... no!
