Question Anyone try the AVS Sports?

Has anyone tried these out? Can you compare them to other tires you have tried?

I'm contemplating getting them, because they can be had for only $103 per tire. But that's still more than the $79 per tire I was going to pay for a set of Bridgestone RE71s... Is it worth the price difference?

Note: I only really care about dry weather performance, and I only use my car on the street (right now).

yoohoooo, PILOT..........

search under Pilot and you should find a wealth of opinion about the AVS Sports...

I think they may be my next tire, unless I can find the Toyo Proxes Locally....

Tim,

Where are you getting the AVS Sports for $103??? Last I checked they were $157 each. That is why I bought RE730's at $97 each.

Yo Joe,

I kinda don't want to tell you, but lemme say this first, I just bought an EGT guage from carparts.com for $150 and I paid full price...

But anyway, carparts.com is having a 33% off sale (there are coupon #s posted in the classifieds section). The discount maxes out at $100, but there's nothing to stop me from buying 2 tires, getting the discount, then buying 2 more with another discount.

With tires you can save sooo much money, too bad they don't carry bridgestone's (or I'd probably get RE730s or RE71s). They have Dunlops, Yokos, Pirelli, Michelin, BFG, and Nitto...

Thumbs up

I would absolutely get them if you can ripoff carparts.com like that.

e-companies like that can't stay in business with these stupid offers. take advantage of them while it lasts!

Tim,

This sounds like a great deal. The AVS Sports are excellent tires according to at least a few sources. You can read about them at the TireRack.
"Pilot" loves them on the Subie he drives (borrows).
There was much discussion about them a month or so ago. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/Foru...ML/001879.html
Finally got it to work ... sheeezzzh

Too bad I didn't know about this deal . The big brown truck delivered the RE730's today.

Oh well ... at least I can wip the AVS Sports in the rain according to the TireRack.

I would just like to point out that I have my own Scooby. Y2K RS sedan in BRP. however I'm still rocking the RE-92s. TTOversteer has the AVS Sports. I dirve his car a lot. The link that Joe posted should give you all the info you need. If you need more ask away.

BTW at $103 per tire if you don't buy them, you are silly.

Just do what I did, use your credit card!

Here, this might help you out too (it convinced me):

BTW at $459.10 for 4 tires shipped to your door if you don't buy them, you are silly.

Tim,

hehe you turned my words back on me.

Unfortunatley I've got no money coming in until I get my new business up and running so I'll have to pass.

Joe, I seriously doubt the RE730's will beat the AVS Sport in the rain... the AVS Sport tread pattern is modeled after the A039 rain racing tire.

I too have some remorse, I would have bought the 225/50-16's for that kind of price! I'm still happy with my lower-performing AVS S1.

How do you get the 33% discount Tim? I checked out the site and if someone referred me then I get 20% off, which still good. I will need to replace the Yokohama Nexus by winter.

All the info is on www.importhookup.com

The discount maxes out at $100 ($300 of purchases) so I split my purchases (2 * 2 tires) so I could save $200.

Tim - I used the old style AVS Intermediates for a littel bit on my Impreza, and they were great......especially in the rain. I'm not a big Michelin fan, as the pilots I had at one time (MXX3's) on my 280 turbo constantly got bublls int eh sidelwall and semed to be very non-resistent to nails for some reason!

anyway, teh AVS In'td. are AWESOME....I still am using the on my GVR4 with great reults...even in the snow. On teh Impreza, I am now using the PZero ym's that came on my new rims, which i like a bit more than the AVS, as they go sideways a bit more predictably, and ar a bit quieter.
