I'm looking for a laptop. But it must be durable. So I want to see who here has the oldest running laptop that's never had to replace any major parts (screen, HD,..etc).
I know my dad has a Toshiba for more than 5 years and it's still running strong. The battery won't charge anymore but that's to be expected.

My brother got one about 5 years ago. Had it sitting on a chair at home when his daughter pulled a "look what I can do!" and it went crashing to the floor. He hung the busted screen up as artwork and a reminder to her...

weve got a laptop toshiba satellite or something, the LCD is a LOT smaller than it's panel is.
no sound card, no cd rom, i used it in 7th grade so lets see, i used it back in 1996 and im sure my dad had it a year or 2 before then. I played duke nukem with no sound on it (it was on 2 floppies) i think I win. we still use that laptop ocne ina while its SIMILAr to this but the screen was smaller i think haha, this model came out in 95 and had more features than mine so mine must be much older and crappier |

I have a P90 Toshiba Satellite that was in a flood and completely submerged for days. The HD had to be replaced and it cannot charge the battery anymore, but works great other than that. Toshiba definitly makes the best laptops out there.

I have a 286 in a closet somewhere. It ran fine last time I plugged it in. Black and white, *might* have 2MB of RAM. |

you're gonna wanna go with toshiba for a laptop. stay away from compaq. hp's not bad, sony has really nice screens but they tend to be a bit over priced sometimes.
i have three toshiba laptops the oldest being a 305cds. i got it in 96. P1 166, 16mb ram, cd rom (hell ya) AND.....1 usb port. that's right children, my win 95 laptop had usb. i've taken this laptop to germany and back a few times. it's been dropped, and kicked and you name it. it's never had to have anything replaced. currently this guy runs my utec ![]() |
