Default Prodrive GC8 muffler

I bought a Prodrive GC8 muffler from Subie Gal at allsubaru.com

At the time I had Borla headers -> Random Cat -> Stromung midpipe -> Custom Flomaster axel back (all 2.25" piping).

When I got Prodrive muffler yesterday, I put the hangers all up, then I am looking at the flanges, and the "planes" do meet up, but they seem to be rotated so that I can't relly bolt them up.

Then I though that maybe when a guy that made my flomaster axelback, he messed with midpipe flange and roteted it, for some reason. But then I tryed my stock muffler back on and it bolted up just fine.

The number on the muffler is SE/114/SU wich according to
this is indeed for pre WRX GC8. But does that mean its for 2.5 RS??? Whats going on here? Also it seems that the piping is bigger than 2.25".

So did I get screwed or did I screw myself?

Jamie, do you know if this muffler should have 2.25" piping? I spoke with 2 other vendors when I was shopping for Prodrive muffler, and they assured me that the piping for GC8 mufflers is 2.25", but the one that I have now seems bigger.

Thanks

Alex

I have heard this before and IIRC. a vendor here in socal encountered the same issue, Aerosim??

I recently put on a Prodrive muffler (for the GC) and had a similar issue. The pipe dia is 2.5in. I had a stromung midpipe too. So rather than cut up the stromung pipe, I just had a new midpipe made that was 2.25 and went to 2.5.

It is possible that this was designed for the GC...as in GC8 not the GC6 or GM6.

Good luck! They sound amazing!

well, so what does this mean now? It said that this is a direct replacement, but now I will have to spend extra money just to make it work?

yea..i know it was supposed to be a direct replacement. I'll search and see if I can find the original post. IIRC they were able to swap a muffler, but dont qoute me on that...

I guess it really depends on how quickly you want it on.

actually ppl have made it work using the Stromung midpipe and smaller bolts.. search bigdweeb <- helped me out with alot of info!

Yup... my Prodrive muffler has bigger than 2.25" piping to it. I was able to make it mate up to my stromung midpipe with a little coaxing though. The basic problem I had was the holes on the muffler side flange were spaced wider than the ones on the midpipe's flange. There was enough meat on the midpipe's flange, so I just broke out the Dremel with a grinding drum and nibbled away until everything fit.

Everything did line up on mine though, so I'm not sure what's going on with yours.
