IIRC, a couple of years ago (?), the Legacy, Impreza, and the Forester received the Good rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

I wonder if that guy is on NASIOC..

I know that 3 years ago the legacy was ranked safest sedan in its class. Subaru's are known for there safety features and awd. But that guy in the video is just lucky because that car was like 4 feet in length after the crash.

Could someone summarize the video? The link is not working.

PS: Any speed can kill, it depend on how you hit, if you're wearing seat belts, and speed.

Basically mack truck rear ends a subaru into the rear of another truck trailer on the freeway IIRC. Crushes the car to about 6 feet in total length and the guy in the Suby was able to walk out of there in one piece and with only minor injuries.

I say he's damn lucky. Sure the cars are safe but I think luck played a major roll in that one.

Agreed. If my hypothesis is correct, he said he saw the rig comming towards him, so he probably ducked down and layed his head across the seats. Still, however, the lower half of the passenger compartment did save his life.

LaterZ!

I thought the front seat backs are designed to break under extreme impact? So the seat could of buckled and he would of been pinned, but alive?

I think an impact extreme enough to break the seatbacks would leave you injured pretty badly.

No I think you're thinking about Volvo seat which recline a bit to reduce the load. The only time I saw a seat break is on a documentry and the driver was like 250 pounds.

Yeah I guess you don't want the seat to break if a fat man is driving your car uphill too fast..

Hmmm... Lucky dood!
