Default headlight ?

my passenger side headlight is broken on my 85 gl wagon and im wondering what year headlights are interchangeable for my car, my buddy that works at an auto parts store cant get headlights any older than 88 and my friend who has an 88 looks like the headlights are the same as mine, so are these years interchangeable?

I'm pretty sure 85-89(+90-94 Loyale) are all interchangeable.
You are in Washington? Thats subaru heaven. Just go to the junkyard and buy another one.. Or I have one off of an 88 here I can probably seel you cheap.

Well, the actual GLASS parts are interchangable. There is a metal mounting system that holds the glass/reflector on that is different from 85/86 to 87+ as the grilles are mounted in slightly different methods. I have had to swap from one mounting system to the other and its not hard. There are I belive 2 or 4 bolts on the back of the housing, just unbolt from the donor car and bolt the good glass/reflector to your old housing.

Or you may get lucky and find one from a similar year. Come by here and I will even help you install it (I'm in Beaverton)
