Post WRX v. ITR...?

It't the newbie again! So how does the ITR fair against the WRX? My friend, in his yellow ITR, beat a WRX but most of us felt that the WRX driver was not a really good driver. Any comments?

Naw, ITR's wont be a rex in a stoplight race unless the driver sucks in the rex and the ITR is really good... Cause if the Rex driver slips the clutch, its all over!!! (sub-6 second 0-60 then)

and it was also on my b-day... & to top that all off... an undercover cop caught us red handed... & i sneekly got away with it... =P hehe... it was my b-day after all...
it was a black ITR & we raced on lawrence expressway... he was reving @ me & asking for it @ a stoplight... =P... kicked his buttooks!... i do feel sorry for him gettnig that ticket for the both of us... =(... musta really sucked to lose to a WRX & get a ticket for it... =/
it all really depends on the driver... if there was a really awesome driver that worked the ITR... might of kicked my arse... so i didnt find my victory much that satisfying... =P
neways, i think the ITR is a pretty awesome car... but so is my WRX hehe... =) =)...

dooh, that brings to mind my encounter w/ a yellow ITR on 19th Ave. in the city around Feb. My car still being the in the break in period(and bone stock), I thought this might be a good time to stretch her legs, but the ITR had me til we got to the turn that changes into 280south and I gained a little but as soon as the turn straighten out I was toast...

ITR= Integra type R?

I played with one a couple weeks ago merging on the freeway (two lanes that became one..) started gaining on me but when I down shifted and kept in third until 6k the WRX whined like an angry bee and the next thing the ITR was gone in my back mirror... I did not think he knew for real what a WRX is...

My guess is "nothing."

Connie is hot! If I was a cop and I pulled her over, the only thing I would be trying to write down is her phone number!!

She won my heart when she posted the "pajamas" photo.

oh, Connie sneaked away from the cop because her car is so stealthy!

Also, I the ITR suffers from the same problem my car does...lack of low-end torque. My car is super fast...when the revs are above your people's redlines...ie, 6500-7000. Below that though, you might as well just wave the white flag in defeat. I think a ITR vs WRX comes down to driver skill, and the speed (or gear/rpm) the ITR is in. I'm sure from a roll from 80-110, the ITR would not lose anything to the WRX, and might even beat it. Of course, this all changes when you guys gather enough balls to put in a boost controller and turn up the heat. But you know, racing in a straight line is for wussies, true drivers know where to go when you want to impress people, or at least make them lose their lunch.

Have any of you ever driven an R? Anytime they are in gear the R has the advantage because of higher hp/lb ratio as well as about 450lbs less weight. It also has shorter gearing and a higher top end.

Off the line, well, you know what they say about awd....

Killed an ITR on freeway by several car lengths.

we also slowed down and agreed to a 3rd gear drop from 70mph, killed him by 2 car lengths all the way to 120.

beating a car by 2 lengths is not a killing. That's a split second, and it was probably the reaction time from when you guys shifted. A killing is when I beat a GS-R from a 80mph roll in my Stealth TT and I had over 20 car lengths in less than 10 seconds...he was trying...I even let him jump on me first.

the lb/hp, ratio is all nice and dandy, but the truth is, hondas have power up high, REALLY high, so unless you know how to drive the car in the revs, which IS NOT easy, then you can't really talk about that ratio junk. I haven't driven a type-R, but even with short gears, and less weight, it doesn't really get it's sweet spot unless you're up high in the rev range. Also, short gears means you have to shift more, which isn't always a good thing if you are racing in a straight line. For instance, the ITR might be geared such that it pulls harder from 40-50, and then has to shift, so the WRX pulls on it when it shifts, but then the WRX shifts...it gets confusing. If you want a good comparison of the two, do some test from different speeds, like 20-40, 30-50, 40-60, 60-80, 30-80, 50-100, etc.... You get the idea. After you compile this data, you can say X car is faster than Y car from this interval, but is slower in this interval.

Good example of how much of a factor gearing makes. A bpu Supra TT (mkiv) will beat a Viper from 80-120, but lose from 120+. It's not because the Viper has better aerodynamics either, or more hp.

Face it guys, stock vs. stock, both cars are about equal, but the WRX is easier to drive fast because of the low-end torque. Don't tell me about turbo lag either, VTEC is a NA engine's turbo lag, and on my car, it lags till 6500rpm!

btw, I'd say most of the yahoos that street race aren't good drivers, with an emphasis on honda owners merely because there are so many, so given equal percentages of driver skill between makes, honda would have more people that lack in skill.

It's all about the pleasure of driving the vehicle though. I like my S2000 much more than the old stealth, even though the stealth has much more hp and would waste the S2000 in a straight line. The experience is key to a car. Ferrari knows all about this idea...

since the topic of street racing was brought up, i would like to tell the driver of a white wrx (rims and exhaust) on 880N, yesterday 645pm, to stop driving like a freaking idiot. He was flying, weaving 4 at a time, going against a fiero??? what for? I say this not to scould him, but attempting to keep MY insurance costs lower when i finally get my wrx. I bet he freaked when he saw a cop. Is that why you got off on alvarado niles?

well, here's wat happend... we had to stop racing 'cuz there was a red light ahead... & out of no where... i hadnt realized that an undercover cop had eyed us all along... the cop flashes his lights & beeps @ us... he was right behind the ITR & i was on the right of the ITR .... all this time @ the red light... i was pissed pissed off 'cuz i thought i would definitely get pulled over... [it woulda been the second time i got a ticket on my b-day... got a speeding ticket on my 18th bday in my prelude doing 57 in a 35 zone... duh!]... neways... when the light turned green... i slowly merged to the far right lane & the ITR followed behind me & the cop behind him... then i made my daring escape... =P i took my chances & slowly just drove forward instead of pulling over... =P hehe... lucky me the cop didnt chase after me... i guess he was satisfied to just get the ITR... =P hehe... but i have now decided to end all my street racing days.. & leave it @ the tracks =) hehe...

hey guys new type R coming in next year
Plus I am not sure the WRX is made for the 1/4 mile and the drag strip. I think it will be much more at home at the race track or the SCCA events. Now if the weather goes bad(rain etc..) astalavista baby

hey The Yellow S2k is there a place to order an S2000 in the bay area and not pay more than MSRP (no mark-up)? I am working my wife to get one but I am not willing to pay 5k over MSRP. I heard if you order and wait (which I will do) they do not mark it up?

you can PM me if you want since this is not a Subi subject

Cheers
