Default Next-gen Impreza spy shots/illustrations?

Maybe this is WTLW, but this is the first I've seen these pix that my buddy emailed me...

I actually really like the first one - hope they are true.
They might be just refreshened 06 Impreza, or a complete redesign? Who knows.

The first two pics are VERY old (before 2001), but I haven't seen the last one before. I imagine it's an old chop as well, but I really like it!

They all look old despite knowing the first two are really old. The wheels in the third look like an enlarged 'MY98/99 RS wheel- version of Intl wheel. Looks like someone just transformed them from 16" to 17".

Damn, the first pic looks like the logical successor to the 22B. I bet the executive who chose the bug eyed look is now working the toll at some subway station in Japan.

No. Before the bugeye was unveiled in Japan. So you're 3 years late.

I predict when the next redesign rumors after this redesign comes around, this pic will again show up.

That top pic is ancient, but *still* my favorite, and if the WRX looked like that, I'd have one in my garage instead of the FXT now.

It also looks a lot like teh new Legacy, enough to be a sibling, which may boost both sales.

Sad that a ~5yr old design still beats what's out there, and probably what's to come.

The last pic, the wagon, looks too much like a Focus wagon to my eyes.

Default bug eyes

i think that picture is actually THE bug-eyed impreza.

they just did a REALLY good job at covering it up with tape and such.

So.. um.. let me get this straight? There is suspicion that these are actually old pix, and not new ones?

HB_DAD - come on.. theres a HUGE difference between the two. The headlights look much nicer - these pix don't ahve that scallop at the bottom of the current car, and the side blinkers are different.
My FAVORITE feaure about the pix is that they retain the huge round fog lights that the new model doesn't have. I consider the large round foglights a Subaru trademark, and was disappointed to see them go.
Also the car in the pic has rounded fenders, while the real car has the squared off bulging fenders - thats one thing I like about the real car more than the pic.

No, that's def. the 2002 WRX, I think from Nurburgring or something. Things they didn't bother masking- the door pulls, the mirrors, the wing, and in particular the thin fender crease at the top that flows into the rearview mirror mount. Also, just look at where the fender masking is and how it lines up exactly with the fender flares on the '02, even to where the flare overlaps the back half of the rear door. And of course, the greatest masking was on the lights, which was the biggest surprise of the whole design.

Well admittidely, the REASON I thought this might be the next-gen car was because ALOT of times automakers use the current model as mules as they test certain features and certain sheetmetal variations.

Thats why even though it looked alot like the current car, I thought the front of the car in the first pic might be the next-gen car's nose grafted onto the current car's platform/rear-section.
