Default spotting Modified legacies on the road

Is anyone else here shocked, when they see other Modded Legacies on the road?

I've seen two this week. One BE Sedan lowered with some nice rims, and today, another BD lowered quite a bit (2" or more) with 17" rims).

I'm always tempted to honk or wave, but I'm afraid they'll think I'm either a nut case, or that I'm honking at them for some other reason.

The only other time I've seen another Legacy on the road, it was another White BD like mine, and he revved at me like they wanted to race. I largely ignore that type of behavior.

To be honest with you, I've never come across another legacy that was fixed up.

I've only come across 4 other legacy's EVER on the road since I got mine...stupid AZ and lack of Subaru's...well, theres plenty of outbacks, but I don't really consider them the same...

I don't see too many that are modified.
I know Russell has a wagon that's lowered, etc.
There is a white BD here in Auburn that has rims and an exhaust.

I saw a Legacy today. It had a fart can, which sounded horrible. It was lowered, and probably had a totally modified exhaust system. I'd just have the tip removed and call it good. What's the point of having a muffler if you're just going to reverse it's effects at the exhaust tip?

I've seen several lowered Legacies, one Legacy L with a GT engine, a Legacy with an STI hood scoop, and other things. I've also seen a few Legacy Sedans with massive wings on the back.

I would want a sleeper look more than something that looks cool. Trust me, when you have a regular every day looking wagon pull a nice time in the quarter, it looks kick ass.

Heh, that was probably the same fellow who wanted to race me.

I was just about to make a right hand turn onto Auburn Way North, when he revved his motor at me.

I have a few mods, but no power mods. Plus what's the point of racing two slow poke Legacies anyway.

Working at a Subaru dealership service department, i see Legacy's all day long. I've only seen one modified Legacy come in, it was a '98 black GT and it belonged to quite the hottie... I couldn't beleive it when i saw her, i was trying to think of some kick back way to ask her out but, the oppurtunity never rose. Perhaps a true loves mis chance

Depends on the year. Older "L" models had the 2.2.

I see Legacy's all the time in the Kent/Covington area...never seen a modded one around here, though. There's a good assortment of sedans as well as wagons, and from all model years, too.

LOL I saw a GT with some mods get on the highway when I was going home. I think he had some sort of exhaust had gun metal gray rims Roof rack the legacy was the GT red. I have a L thats Mica red with some mods. But I was tryin real hard to get up next to him, he was going 70 and my exit was like 1/2 a mile away lots of traffic so, I friken got on his tail got him to pull over into the slow lane when we had some space I got up next to him we both gave each other the thumbs up and I got in front of him and got off at my exit.
I was very happy.

i've only ever seen one while driving that was modded. but i drove 4 hours to go visit a person who has one. his ride makes mine look sad & his didn't even have a front bumper at the time. my actual reason for driving that far was to get a modded bumper from him.

i passed the second legacy on my way home...it was going the oposite direction.

living in PA i see several legacy's everytime i drive (to the point that i find it odd when i don't pass one...going the other way of course)...just never many on the interstate.

Saw a white BD legacy a week or so ago, and it was all decked out. Looked like a SYMS body kit with white rims. Too bad mine was faster *cackle*

I live in a small town, so I am the only modified legacy I have ever seen in person. But their are some WRX's with Apexi N1 exhaust systems rolling around...

KraziKen -

Give a wave if you ever see me on the road. I promise I won't try to race you

I rarely see modified Legacies around the Seattle area. I did see a white BD with tint that looked lowered last week, but that's about it. I see all sorts of WRXs and RSs that usually wave when they see me driving.

It had an EJ20 turbo (or EJ25T) or had a turboed EJ22E. The L never came with a Turbo, whereas some of the GT's did.

Cool, with those Morette's you'll be easy to spot. From the sounds of it, you either saw my White BD, or that fellow from Auburn.

There's lots of Subies in Washington, but it would seem very few Legacies that are modded at all.

Unfortunately most of my mods are performance mods you can't see. I am lowered and have a 20% tint all the way around. I'm hoping to get some new rims soon. I should be easier to see then.

It's just cool to see someone local that enjoys the same car I do.

With all the stuff I've done, and all that I plan to do to my Legacy, the only thing that gives it away on a visual is the WRX wheels. It's likely that there are plenty of Legacys that don't give away the secrets of what's under their hoods.

The only modded Legacy GT (green), other than mine is a local Subie dealer tech who has painted his GT wheels gunmetal, tinted his windows and got a bra on it.

I do see a good number of GTs though out here. Several grey, 1 other black one, couple white, afore mentioned green and one unicorn....

a blue GT sedan. Never saw one in person till a week ago. Sharp!

See tons of OBs and Ls. Everyone is modding the Rex.

yeah, real surprise.

The only modded Legacies I've seen on the road were weakly modded, mostly for appearance. Wheels and lowering, occasional cheap exhaust or cheap cold air intake. It hurts me every time I see a Legacy with 18" chrome wheels that I know weigh like 30 lbs . None of these people know anything about Subaru's or care. I get waves and nods and wave back at WRX/GC8 guys all the time... but it's never happened with a Legacy dude. The drivers of most of the modded ones I've seen look like they're sad that they're not in a Honda

There is, of course, Dan who comes to the I-Club/WRX Fanatics meets in San Jose here who professionally races his 2001 Legacy GT. He's got JIC coilovers with 900 lb springs on it (yeah, 900. if you try to rock it by pushing on the roof, it just vibrates), R compound tires, most every other suspension goodie you can get, racing clutch and seats... that's a FAST car on the track or on twisty roads. Leaves highly modded (suspension and engine) WRX's in the dust in the turns. Just can't touch the longer Legacy wheelbase plus that crazy suspension and tires...

But what really bothers me is that my car's modded... It's obviously modded... It's pretty darn loud, it's far from stock externally, got a Cobb Tuning decal and plate frame very visible from behind... yet nobody wants to race me. Not since I was nearly stock have I been revved on and I used to get revved on all the time. Not that I want to race people and, in fact, I'm pretty against racing on the streets but every once in a while I'd just really like the chance to blow the doors off of someone from like 0-60 or 30-[10 over the limit] who thinks he can pick on a little 'ol Legacy.

You should have come down to my garage day. Mixed among the countless WRX's were MGardenier's gorgeous blue '94 turbo, and my '97.
