Catback exhaust. if its catback do you have to buy a mid pipe?? Confused
Is a "cat back exhaust" really from the cat back? This may be the stupidest question that I have ever asked but I dont understand this.
If you get a cat back exhaust, does that mean that you get "mid pipe" also...this way u dont have to have one made? For ex. the Subaru Performance muffler, is that just the muffler?? If so thats alot of fuqin money for it! neway...if you understand anything I just said..please help thanks Keith

I think when you get ask for a 'catback', it includes all the piping from the catalytic conoverter back, including the midpipe. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
BTW, my bro just installed a custom catback with Borla muffler and it sounds sweeeet! He paid only 280$CDN for the stainless steel piping and install, and another 170$CDN for the muffler. 450$CDN for a stainless steel catback is pretty good. (non mandrel bent...) |

Oh goody! Jeff got everything installed. Nice work with the SS piping too for $450. I'm sure he's loving it. May take some time to get used to it tho. Did he ditch the resonator? what diameter?

He did ditch the resonator, and I believe he got 2 1/4" diameter. Sounds really good. Again, thanks for all yer help Gambit. We'll meet up next time you come down, hopefully I'll have my Borla installed by then too.

No pics yet, I'll take some this weekend but it's gonna be awhile b4 I develop them. The borla was 98$ or something at www.carparts.com plus shipping and minus online coupons. find the coupons somewhere here, you can do a search and find it easy.

My bro just used some normal generic tip, similar size as the outlet diameter.

Picked up a simple SS tip. Definitely not one of those Folgers' size tin can. Afterall I have nothing to compensate.

I believe Colinl posted pix and sound files of the Borlas. Go find it. it's low profile. Really unlike those mega 5" melon shooters. But boy it does pack some deep boxer sound tho.

I used an old borla muffler from my previous H car and was very surprised at the sound, considering it was a straight through muffler. The noise is just right and I'm all for quiet mufflers. It is only loud when at WOT and if you lift off the gas on the freeway. Sometimes I wish it was slightly louder cruising around town.
BTW, I'm using the factory piping. I'm not sure how much louder it would be with 2.25" piping. You can see a pic of it here: http://aspen.mwic.org/mods.html |
