Pre-sold all the WRXs.... hmm. When I went, they had them way on the end of the lot (good spot to show off, but not good at all to keep an eye on), and it seemed like people were taking test drives. Maybe a specific demo car? I did notice they had a good number of the new RSs and maybe even one or two of the OBSs.

Not to get anyone paranoid about their pre-ordered car, but if those were pre-ordered, I sure wouldn't of been happy. I didn't want anyone touching mine.

As far as I know, Livermore has been very good about keeping the cars undriven.

My WRX from there had 8 miles on it, and the salesman personally shooed two people away from it while I was doing a pre-sale inspection.

He also had two potential customers come in to drive WRX's. He allowed them to look at the ones that had been presold, but made a strong point that they were someone else's car, and that they could only look from the outside (he wasn't going to open them up, etc...)

I don't know if this was just because I was there, but it seemed like a reflex action. And the people there don't seem the type either.

He DID have one guy who test-drove a 2002 RS though, must not have been pre-sold.

edit: spelling

Well, I'm the housemate. Admittedly it was disappointing, but hey - everyone makes mistakes. I've now got an almost identical WRX on order at Livermore, and they seemed genuinely apologetic, and willing to make up for it.

The timing of things felt like a bait-and-switch (called me to verify I was coming, then were contacted by the person who reserved it asking 'Hey, is that my car on your webpage? You never called me!') but if so, they need to go back to pushy salesman school, because they are doing a little in compensation for the confusion, and I was ready to buy the car off the lot ;-)

I have no clue when I'll get it - probably late May from the sounds of things. I'm excited - tired of my (in almost perfect condition 2000 Civic) already - just not my style of car.

Oh... they did seem pretty good about considering the car already sold - their language implied that they considered it the buyer's property, and not a car for letting people test drive or futz with.

Well, that guy who reserved the blue wagon is me. Hi, I'm new here, this being my first post. I found this club a little while ago and have learned a lot from all of you, so you have my thanks.

I ordered the car a while back, and Earnie said he would call me a few weeks before it came in. Much to my surprise I read titsataki's post, checked Livermore's web site and saw my car, with the exact options I ordered! So I sent off an email and Earnie called back within minutes to assure me it was my car.

Darwin - was your friend told on the phone it was available? And was given a price under MSRP? If so, I will be pretty mad because I'm at MSRP, and someone was trying to sell the car out from under me. Or perhaps I just misunderstood your post.

Anyway, sorry to be so long. I will tell you how it goes tomorrow.

Chirik - Sorry I didn't get to read your post before I posted (I was too busy posting... it took me awhile to figure everything out.) Anyway, sorry you got caught in the middle, it seems either someone at Livermore was playing games, or just bad communication. I hope you get your car soon.

Hi! Glad to see you here. Yeah, I think it was a major ****-up. We were offered the car at MSRP, until they found out it was actually yours.

They offered us an order at MRSP-1k because of the screw-up. Mabey you should hold out for the same deal.

I got the feeling it was a miscommunication - he said, quite definately that it was available - the order had been cancelled, but he also mentioned some options off-hand that were not listed on the webpage, so I gather he simply got his vehicles crossed.

He was going to give it to me for very slightly below MSRP, because I didn't want one of the options it had, so he was going to give me a deal on just that one option, that was the only bargaining they were upto doing, though, as they don't sell the WRXs under MSRP as a general rule. On the bright side, they are not even trying to sell them over MSRP.

If they don't offer you some form of a discount because of the screwup and confusion, I'd recommend asking for it - they seem like they really are sorry about the mistake and want to make it better. Good for their reputation.

Oh, and if you decide you don't want it afterall, I'll take it - but, I'll be happy to wait for my place in line, too. ;-) Gives me more time to look into better financing. ;-)

Hope you like it, and you get any remaining issues worked out. I think this was a case where Frank got his information crossed, and your message (which LITERALLY arrived while we were on our way) helped straighten things out. I'd have been glad to take the car - but only if, indeed, it had been a cancelled order - not wanting to take someone else's rex. ;-) Have fun.

chirik - Well, if you are still interested (yea, right!) I did not get the blue WRX wagon. My wife and I test drove it, and it was great. A wonderful car in all respects. (We were careful not to over-rev it, so don't worry about that) The reason it purely a financial one at this point. So, give them a call and see if you can pick it up. Good luck

Actually I was down there when you guys were in the office. The Blue Wagon is a sharp vehicle. I was there to test drive a WRX, took the white one out for a spin, very easy on it. Interesting car.

I was not looking at the blue previous, just too bright, etc.etc. But it's a sharp car, my only issue is I think everyone and their grandma is going to own the blue, so I'll prob go silver or black.

Love the stock exhaust note, car needs to be dropped etc..bla blah

Is really hard going from my S4 to the WRX but I try to reflect back on my 95 GSX (Mits).. Could be a fun car and the wagon for the price, don't think there is another wagon that can compete. I could buy 2 WRX's for the cost of one S4 Avant (that's the wagon).

On another note, Livermore Subaru seems like an awesome dealership, the fact that after a couple of minutes talking they threw me the keys to the white one and said take it for a spin. No pressure, nothing, very nice way to do business. Once I decide for sure, I will be buying it from Livermore (well we still have to talk price).. But I like the way they conduct themselves.

Livermore, nice job. Really! Impressed, too bad you didn't want to deal with me on my 2001 S4, or you could of had that sale and this possible other one.. Well at least you might get the WRX sale

Thanks again if you check out the board, appreciate how I was handled!

I agree that Livermore is a great place. The mix-up with the car was explained and was something that could happen to anyone. They let my wife and I take as much time as we needed, no pressure, no hassle. And let us take a test drive by ourselves, which is a nice change from the dealers in San Jose. When I regretfully declined the car, there was no fuss about getting the deposit back. I hope to get the WRX later on, and I will give them first shot at the deal.

When I was there Thursday, I gave them my cell phone number, so today, just as I was about to have my taxes done, they called me to say that you decided you didn't want it, and let me know it was mine if I wanted. ;-) Probably before you even posted.

Anyways, I'm getting taxes back, and now have a WRX Wagon. Darn, I'd driven my old Festiva nearly 100,000 miles, and mu Civic another 11,000 - and not a single bug in the Bay Area. I must have killed atleast a dozen bugs in Livermore. Yuck. Brand new, and already covered in dead bugs.

Hope you get a WRX when you are in a better position - it's a nice car, although I'll have to admit, it's very hard to keep it under 4k, but I was careful. I'm gonna hate it under it's broken in. ;-)

Frank and Ernie were surprised to find out we'd talked. ;-) Aint the internet great?

hmmm... you guys must have showed up later than me... I was there around 11am picking up my Sedona Red. Well you may be right they kept saying is presold but it seems that they have a few cars around that they were not getting prepped for the owners (sold orders..) I know they did mine in less than hald a day. it came yesterday at 1pm and it was done this morning at 8:30am.. Picked it up at around 11:30 already put 90 miles on it doing twisties between Livermore and and San Ramon... It is very fun indeed as long as you keep it around 3-3.2k rpm and above... I had a hard time changing gears at around 4-4.2k rpm... the car was taking off...

Oh well 500 miles to go...

I was driving around trying to build some mileage.. Up to 125 now

these guys still have a black a blue and 1 or 2 whites... all sedans...

I am starting to believe that not all are presold or people are backing out...or I gues they do not get there right away....

Cheers

I think they simply don't get there right away. The Wagon I bought had been on the lot for a few days I think before anyone noticed it was there, although it was pre-sold. It didn't leave until Saturday, so - what, nearly a whole week? When I was there Thursday, they said they had some others on the lot, but they were presold.
