AFAIK, it is solely a sound modification with slightly better flow. Made by Brospeed, too (I looked).
Not worth the money if you're going to just go out and buy a Stromung/STi...but didn't it come standard on the 99 RS? I don't remember having to pay for it on my car...oh well. The tip on mine is dented now so I have an excuse to replace it. |

Ok, do a search. You will find plenty of arguements about it.
1. It flows better than stock, and was specifically designed for the RS. 2. It is a better sounding muffler than stock. I admit that it does not sound like the Stromung, or Scooby Sport or any of the others. It is less noticeable outside, inside you can hear the change more. But if you want sound, dont get it. 3. It carries the same warranty as your car. 4. GET THE RALLISPEC SETUP. It is the best. And on a side note, a Neon driving friend of mine absolutely loves the sound of my car. He says it sounds like a harley, a big open rumbling V-twin. Its the combination of the MRT filter element, Borla headers and SOA perf. exhaust. I told him wait until get the Rallispec setup (hopefully). Nothing sounds like a Subaru. Eric Silver 99 RS edit- 5. Have a Subaru dealer install the SOA muffler. They have some codes to reprogram in the ECU to make the car run better with the new muffler. It is not just a reset. They actually change settings. This of course becomes irrelevant when you go to a S-AFC/intake setup. [This message has been edited by Eric (edited May 25, 2000).] |
