Default small shot of nos for 4eat launch??

hey i was just wondering what you guys thought on the idea of getting a shot of nitrous to use out of the hole in a 4eat...i'm definitely thinking about a torque converter, but i want to try something cheaper and i'm just not sure yet...lemme know if you guys think that will get a good 60 foot time with a 4eat...thanks

I know it'll get you a good/better 60 foot time. Your boost will pick up better by doing this. You'll get the Torque converter mod suggestion 'push' from most of the peeps here but you already know that.

On my Outback Sport, I was able to go from 2.3-2.4 60ft times to 1.85 - low 1.9's while using nitrous out of the hole. Just about everywhere I read says it's not recommended using it below 3000rpm but I was hard headed and stupid (still am. ). I've never had the switch engaged before mashing the throttle though. I've always had the throttle already mashed to WOT just before hitting the switch. I would hit the switch while taking my foot off of the brake pedal.

This was all done using a 60 shot.

It's supposed to be more stressfull on the engine at lower rpms, more stressfull on the drivetrain and easier to do tire burnouts. A sudden burst of an extra 50-100lbs/ft of torque when the car is not moving or just starting to move has a tendency to want to twist other things when our AWD is working so well with the extra grip.

Default What breaks first?

While I haven't managed to break anything in a Subaru yet (give me time), I have some experience with boosted GM vehicles.

Working with a blown 5.7L in a trans am, the drivetrain held up to all kinds of abuse at low speeds - including hard launches. But it was possible to pretzel the driveshart at high speed. (these were speeds only possible on a track)

Same thing with a 4WD big-block truck equipped with a blower: You could launch it all day without complaint, but the stock diff just could not handle the sustained HP; you could snap them predictably. Guy I knew snapped three of them while doing 1/4 mile runs. (no accounting for taste)

All of this makes me think that what typically breaks a drivetrain is not the launch, or even abrupt changes in speed, but simply horsepower.
