Default How can you tell if you have exhaust leak?

I just finished installing the Vishnu TBE on my STi and took the car for a short drive. When I returned, I was checking under the hood for leaks, etc, and I noticed the area around the downpipe had light wispy bits of smoke wafting out of it. Not blowing out of it, just sorta floating. I thought it was an exhaust leak at the downpipe/turbo but my dad is 100% positive it's just paint/coatings burning off because of the newness and the heat. There is no noise that I can hear. All the bolts were tightened down well and double checked, so am I just being paranoid? Any way to tell for sure?

Kuonji,

The smoke is probably lubricant that was used during the downpipe install. Drive around for a while, and it should burn off.

After I install my TBE and uppipe it smoked quite a bit from all the liquid wrench I used, but was gone after about 10 miles of spirited driving

Ya, after doing installs like that under the hood its common to use liberal amounts of WD40 and the like to help get the bolts loose. This is probably whats burning off.

cat back? Man...that will be a piece of cake. Don't let the car fall on you while you are down there.
