Then I guess the next question would be........

Has anyone who have installed an aftermarket BOV having any of the problems mentioned in that comment?

There's been lots of threads about this. It's been pretty much established that a vent to atmosphere BOV will give you no performance improvements and most likely create other problems on a stock car.
Have I personally tried one? No, the stock one works fine.... although I would like the cool PSST sound I'm not willing to pay money and lose performance for it.

Yeah, that's about right.

Another thing you could do is change the material of the return hose to something that transmits sound better. Although finding the right material that won't explode is a bit of a concern. :0

Or just use this:

I'd a problem of a power spike after throttle lift. So, i guess I should have my aftermarket BOV back on the car.

I've never tried this but couldn't you dissconnect the hose that returns the pressurized air from the BPV to the turbo. Wouldn't you get some noise from that?

taking out the silencer allows the BOV to be more noticable, as well you can hear the turbo spool up better as well...

but it's not that loud and no where near as noticable as an aftermarket BOV

The stupid thing is, your car will run better with the ricey fake blowoff valve sound than with a real BOV.

My car has run fine with a GFB blow off valve for the last 2 years.

Hi guys,
All I can say is I love my HKS. It's been in my car for about 6 mo.
I had a GFB for about a year set to 50/50 mode. I just installed an HKS BOV and (on my car at least) the HKS gives me a lot better throttle response (when changing gears)...
I was surprised as I didnt expect a difference other than sound...but found gassing after a shift much more responsive.
Proibably could have been done with tuning my UTEC but who knows...
FWIW

Since i don't really like to make people search and read and read, i'll try my best to provide you with what i know.

intake silencer is just an extension of the stock air box.

-- Jack up your car on the right side
-- go under, remove 2 plastic bolts,
-- remove the right front wheel
-- remove 1 bolts on the wheel well, 1 plastic bolt on the same location as well
-- slowly pull the black plastic trim out from the bottom of the car
-- you'll see the extension of the airbox now
-- there will be 1 bolt holding it down to the car, remove that
-- go back up to the airbox, pop open it
-- remove the airbox, then you'll see a bolt beside it, remove that
-- then slowly remove that big piece of air box extension

Then, go for a rip, you'll hear the turbo and BOV now !

That would take money away from my STi fund... no can do
Besides, for the price of a good BOV I'll get my season's pass for Whistler bike park
