something is wrong with ym dl
i think the altnater belt is loose or powersteering belt it squels when i crank her and also i think my starter is going

help me

Ummm "ym dl" Your DL wagon/sedan??

If the belt is loose and squealing its needing to be tightened. Tossing a new belt/belts on there from your dealer couldnt hurt, if its on a DL its not hard at all. On the alternator, there should be 2 bolts holding it on. Oh yes, disconnect the battery FIRST!

Loosen up both the bolts on the alternator and swing it down toward the engine. This should loosen up the belts. Then slide the first one off (you may need to wiggle them a bit). Then slide the back one (if there is one) to where the front one was, then all the way off.

Reinstall new belts and make sure your power steering pump (up on top in the center) is full of ATF. It it comes up low, fill it til its full.

Why do you think the starter is going? the car has little cranking power? or does it just <click> sometimes? More info needed there.

why do you have to disconnect the battery just to tighten a belt? and ya what makes you think your starter is going out

You ever had sparks fly when you put a wrench in the wrong place?? Its better to be safe

what did you do place it on the battery? theres onlt one place on the alt to mess up like that and that should be covered. but you are right better safe than sorry.

yeah it just clicks some times that is all it does

I have run into that with 3 of my 5 subarus.. only once did it turn out to be a bad starter.. all the other times it was corroded battery posts/cables.. this past time they were so bad I had to get a new set of cables.
