Default Tire Mounting & Balancing in SoCal

Did a search with no luck....Just got some UKDM 17" WRX wheels with bald tires, and ordered some new Toyo Proxes 4 tires to replace them with. I'm in Orange County (Irvine), and need to find a reliable shop where I could get the old tires removed and the Toyo's put on. When I say "reliable shop" I'm hoping to find one with experienced staff and good mounting/balancing equipment.

I've heard horror stories of wheels getting scratched during mounting due to either bad mounting equipment or crappy mechanics, so I'm a bit freaked out.

So, anyone know of any good shops in OC? I'd be willing to drive to LA as well if I need to.

TIA!

Post some pics of your wagon with the 17's when you are done please. I have the silver wagon too, and thought about trying to source the same wheels.

If you want professional equipment and what not, go to Autobachs. They charge 9.95 per tire for mounting/balancing.

to answer my own question, i called costco in irvine and they do NOT mount tires that you bring in yourself if they are not the OEM recommended size, and in good condition.

anyways, just wanted to say that i ended up going to "Service Specialists" in Lake Forest (right on Rockfield, a block north of Irvine Subaru). they did a great job, were friendly, and not a scratch on the wheels! cost me $73 w/ tire disposal, compared to $113 that America's Tire quoted me. highly recommended.

I had autobacs put the tires on my new wheels. i brought them my wheels and i bought the tires from them (good price!) and they mounted and balanced them. i think they did a great job, but it's only because the machines they use require minimal human input.

you can just set a tire on this machine top and it takes the old tire off the old rim and mounts the new tire to the new rim without a human touching it...anyone that went on the little pre-opening tour I hooked up saw the machine...it's like 10g's

Nice hookup oilcover, you certainly are well connected

I am thinking about visiting Japan, how 'bout a hookup for a tour there?

Yup, Irvine Costco does not do tires they don't sell. I heard it's under new management and they don't want that liability. I ended up going to the one in Laguna Niguel near Pacific Park and Alicia. $10/tire.
