Default need track turbo advice

i posted this in 2.5L forum, but no help.

I have '04 STi
APS 3" no cats Turbo Back Exhaust
UTEC
(i have not put any of this on the car yet, too busy)

This is my track car.

I want to max out at 17-18 psi, be able to run gas as crappy as 91, do 325 - 350 whp and get around a road course as quickly as possibly. And have a reliable car.

What turbo and why?
Should I look at injectors and fuel pump too?

I'd think that this is the wrong forum for advice on which turbo...however maybe there are folks in here who would have a recommendation.

However I have a few questions that might help with responses:
How well does the car do at the track now? What would you like to change about it that you felt it lacked at the track? Why the 325-350whp number; what's your motivation there?

Define reliability; is this also a daily driver or do you trailer it to the track? Are you worried about heat issues? What are specifically worried about failing? Have you had anything fail so far?

As far as running crappy gas, I suppose you could use the UTEC you have and just switch maps based on the gas that you purchase. That, or tune for 91 all the time (which would suck really.)

sorry, no up-pipe. edited above. i have leftover parts off the wrx and didn't think about it. the UTEC is STi.

the sti is as fast as my stage 4 wrx on the track. although the handling is very sloppy, but it's in the process of being fixed.

my wrx had 270 at the wheels. i want to step that up to the next level. i'll be doing some amatuer time attacks and the '05 one lap. i think 325 - 350 is do-able without getting too crazy.

reliability - it has to make a 8000 mile one week trip for one lap '05.

93 is my home gas. one lap may be as low as 91, but you're right, i could have a seperate map. i want to stay away from race gas because it's expensive and I would think 325 whp is attainable and safe w/ 93.

Spend the money on suspension before you dump it into power mods.

Default Re: need track turbo advice

id wouldnt up the boost at all if you are going to road race it a lot.

maybe get at turbo back exauhst, and port the wastegate so you dont get too much boost creep.

should be more power than you will have the balls to use for a long time as is.

rasing the boost on turbo cars and then road racing them a lot is asking for trouble.

edit: I see you are trying to compete in the one lap. in that case, I guess you should go a bit more nuts =)

i really like the PE turbos. they are more expensive though. i would try out the PE1820. you arent looking for that much power so it should be good. the PE1818/20 is a little laggy on a wrx but should be good on the STI. can put down 320 whp on wrx with pump gas no prob, race gas 360 easy. STI should be better.

yes i would recommend injectors and pump.
