Rimmer has told rao that his is on the way. Don't know if he's gotten all the parts yet, but he is supposed to be one of the first to get the kit.

As far as I know rao has gotten his, had a part not be right, gotten a new piece and got it in, and then it wasn't running right still. I haven't heard from him lately (though I'm sure he'll find this post within the next day or so), but I'm assuming that it is at least somewhat running now, possibly not fully capable yet though.

I received an email from Robert on another matter and he informed me that he is selling his RS. He's going to part out most of the aftermarket stuff according to the email. I didn't reply, but I was surprised!

Yeah, the installation was a real pain. Then after several days of parts swapping and tinkering only to end up with a badly running car... To say that RAO is disappointed is an extreme understatement.

On the plus side, it looks like RAO is going to be the first in line for the US spec WRX. Assuming it shows up late this year or early next.

Unhappy

I'm sorry to hear about Robert's misfortune's. I guess it was 'the straw that broke the camel's back'. I can understand the frustration.

I guess we can scratch Rimmer off the list for forced induction. Man Robert won't even talk about it

Angry

I'd be lying if I said I was surprised. I prepayed Rimmer $3200+ (dealer cost) for a Supercharger in June of last year. After 2+ months of "waiting for a part to be machined" I never saw a product. When I asked for a refund, Rick himself said that they "had the money" but made up some excuse that his bank didn't let him have access to it and that he needed to get something worked out. -- After that call, he never responded to any other communication, be it fax, phone, or anything.

Fact is I pre-paid for a product, he spent the dough, never gave me the S/C.

My OBS is now happily fitted with a Minnam Stage-2. Minnam may not have been great about getting all of the parts (Was send overnight, but was missing all Ts and hoses, clamps were kinda substandard) but they got me the kit I paid for. I've heard Minnam's really gotten their act together recently with better quality clamps. Great product made better.

I see no reason to choose Rimmer over Minnam, considering Minnam has a tangible product that does as advertised.

Just my $.02

I am still hoping for a Rimmer, since I can install and remove it in a few hours, in case I have warrantee work to get done.

I live not too far from them, and still haven't found the time to visit and beg for a test ride.

Just in case, anyone know how a Stromung catback exhaust with 2.25" midpipe will do with the turbos? It the tubing too small, or is it big enough for a low back pressure happy turbo?

Thumbs up

Jeez people? Lighten up. I have the Rimer kit and I am preping it for the install. I just finished installing the oil return line in the oil pan. That was a pain in the ass. The rest is a lot more easy. I spent some time cleaning up the welds and matching the ports on the castings. So far, everything is going together nicely. I am installing a small 10-inch high volume fan on the bottom of the intercooler for when I sit in traffic. I am also going to place the K&N filter into the fender instead of the engine compartment. This is my personal mod so I have to buy some more piping.
Before you folks completely blow Rimmer out of the water, why don't you let me finish my install and let me comment on it? Remember that Rob's RS is a 00, the kit was designed for a 99. It is supposed to work on a 00, but there may be a problem that Rimmer was not aware of on the 00. I should be done by Friday or Saturday (May 26 or 27) and I will post SOMETHING as soon as I have finished adjusting the BEGI fuel pressure regulator. So go take a Vicodan and relax.

The problem with rimmer on us 2000 imprezas is that they haven`t figure out how to keep the injector duty cicle in good parameters, the trouble is ocasinated becuase of the map sensor due to forced induction... in normally aspirated mode that map sensor sends 3.52 volts more or less maximun ouput, the 00 runs rich all the time under wot (as you can heard from your other patners on this imprezas even with and aftermarket intake) well the fact is is when adding forced induction the outpup from map sensor climbs to 4.87 volts, then the ecu "sees" this signal as an error and enter into something like Fuel Cut mode (that you may have heared from turbo cars wrx when running more that 12 psi, that why HKS seel the fuel cut defencer), well the people of rimmer don`t know this fact, but minan does, that`s why minan kit for 00 imprezas comes with J&S fuel controller, wich is a variable clamping voltage, with real time adjusting, and very easy to install to fool the ecu into thinking there is boost and leading to a very lean not healthy lean condition. In my cae I got the J&S, I have already installed it, this weekend I will put the jackon racing fuel pump (wich is just bolt on with minor customs works) and the itc ( well I`m running water injection system and there is no problem with detonation or high EGT`s even with 9 psi in my EJ20 impreza, but I will try with ITC to see what diferences on HP would be, you know people, all those facts that with water injection you loose power because you quit space to air or fuel into the combustion chamber etc etc, and other says you gain by decresing intake temperatures, nore densed air, and decreasing cylinder`s peak presion etc etc etc), also I will try with the MSD dis 2 ti see how it works onto the impreza.. and well I will tell you about rimmer product if it`s really worht or not.. the only true fact is that I put the SC off whenever I want without taking me more than 10 minutes... that`s a big deal.. one night some audi A3 left you behind and two hours later you left behind integras, mitsu 3000 gt.. and a lot of more sporty cars...
