Default Quick Q: any Red Calipers stock on 02 WRX?

Did Subaru ever use a stock OEM red colored brake caliper on 02 WRX's?

I viewed pics of an 02 WRX wagon with red calipers. The sales rep says they are a Subaru upgrade to some kind of OEM big brake system. I think he doesn't know what he is talking about.

I can only see a pic on line, and am unable to determine if it was painted or coated with something an [Eastwood] epoxy. I will check it out and do a visual if I think its a serious prospect.

I did a search for "red caliper' and got nothing there.

He might have been referring to the Subaru 4-pot brake upgrade. There wasn't an option for red calipers IIRC

I saw those in my search. Were they factory or dealer installed?

I can't tell from the pics, but stock OEM 02 WRX calipers are two piston units, correct?

I believe the 4-pots came factory on a certain model car; which car? I can't recall sorry .

Most people just buy them these days and install it themselves. Some have painted them themselves and maybe that's what you saw?

And yes, the WRX calipers have a 2-piston setup/configuration.

Thanks Hank...Yes, I think they are just painted. The salesman is trying to make me think they are a [more expensive] upgrade or optional equipment.

The 4 pot "Subaru" calipers came standard on many vehicles- the STi v1 through v6 for starters. The red ones only came on the WRX-STi 22B, though many folks just paint the normal ones red, as it's essentially the only difference.
