Default Rim of the World Press Release

Chaste Automotive Driver Victor Kuhns and Co Driver Abel Villesca finish 5th overall and 3rd in Production GT at Rim of the World Rally in Lancaster California. The rally started well for the team with the first few stages of the rally going very well but on SS4 Victor hit a rock that had been kicked into the stage and bent a control arm, after reaching the team on the Radio to let them know that they had cleared the stage. After arriving at service the arm and rim were quickly changed. On Saturday we started 16th which meant that we would be running a lot closer to the front and meant that the road would be much better so Victor went for it. We were sailing in PGT and were only behind the Turbo Cars of Stephan Verdier, Tanner Foust, and Moberly. We still managed to stay in front of a few WRXs so we were in very good shape. At some point after the first service a rock punched a hole in the floor filling the car with dust to the point that Victor and Able could hardly breathe or see. Worse still their radio stopped working so they could not call in to service either. As soon as they arrived in service Veictor was exhausted and out of breath but after patching the hole and giving both driver and co driver fluids and some food they were ready to fly through the finish. The run to the finish was trouble free except for the skid plate which came loose after the last stage. A very good result for the team and we look forward to Gorman and the debut of the teams new cars.

Jeff,

Thanks for the kind words and all of the support from Chaste Automotive and Motul during the event. Rim was a two event rally for us ClubRally competitors. We finished 2nd in PGT and 5th over all despite the 3 foot car eating rock on SS4 of the Friday C2 ClubRally. I was amazed at how quickly your crew and the folks we brought with us from Albuquerque were able to replace the entire passenger front suspension (why do hits always happen on the co-driver side of the car?). The dust invading the cabin almost did us in two thirds of the way through the Saturday C3 ClubRally. Despite that and due in large part to the work done by an awesome service crew, we were able to finish 3rd in PGT and 5th over all on Saturday. Thanks again, we couldn't have done it without you. I believe there are a couple of other teams that you helped out with the odd spare part (transmission, wheels) or two.

Regards,
Abel

p.s.
Thanks also to Subiegal for pointing out a few areas that were largely responsible for our dust problem!

If you say so yourself Thanks for all the hard work. It really paid off. We need to get you and Dave into your own car soon.

Congrats Vic and Abel and everyone on the crew! You guys ran a great rally and showed up a lot of WRXs despite the dust problem. Can't wait to see what you guys can do with the new car.

Chris now it is time for us to get to work on your car. I know of a couple 2-door shells for sale............... Let me know when you get an email from Higgins so we can get that all set up.

Thanks Milan, it was a blast. We were going to be happy just to finish, but the nice trophies really made it all worthwhile.
