Default Any interest in a WRX rear lsd unit?

I'm going through hell with my R160 3.54 to 3.90 conversion. I have sunk WAY too much money into this. Just wondering if any of you non-lsd types would be interested in mine if I go with buying a complete assembly instead of swapping the crown and pinion.

I also have a complete rear diff bearing and seal kit that I could sell too. (Used for about 100kms - long enough to know that the shop screwed up the lash / gear pattern of my new gears). This alone cost $270.

PM me if you are interested.

Edit: my diff has 80,000kms on it. Like I said, the bearings have about 100.

Well, I just ordered a complete rear diff. I guess I'll post the LSD in the general FS forum. Any input on what to ask for it?

I'm confused.

Are you going from 3.54 to a higher 3.90, or am I getting this backwards??

I thought the stock ratio was 3.90????

The 3:90 is stock in 2.2L 5 speeds? 3:54 are in WRXs

That's correct.

The "final drive" in a WRX is 3.90, but the rear differential is 3.54. This is because of the 1.1:1 gear reduction in the tranny's output to the rear. I wish I knew why Subaru does these things

I assume you mean will the LSD work in your car. If so; yes. You would have to remove your diff, open it, press out/pull the side bearings, take your ring gear off your open diff, put it on the lsd, then re-assemble.

No, my original 3.54 are fine; they're in my shed right now. Its the new ($490) 3.90 that are pooched. But the lsd unit, case and bearings are all fine.

As of today, I'm up to spending $1,400 on this diff debacle...

If I would have had any idea it was going to go this way, I would have looked hard at a complete STi R180 swap. I thought staying with the R160 was going to be the cheapest route. So much for those guys saying that a couple of hundred bucks got them a used 3.90 diff for the swap...
