Default Lack of FMIC options as of now

Well, I knew this would happen. As soon as I have scraped enough cash up to purchase an FMIC in the near future, APS and TURBOXS both stop production on their units (the two units I was looking into)

does anyone here have experience with a custom fabricated FMIC or know of another option for an FMIC for us 02/03 guys?

Ours is in the works but it will be a few months before a final version is released. All i can say is i have spent the past few days working on it. Trying to tie it all together so we can set a final release date and retail price.

Why is turboxs making a new FMIC? Was something wrong with their old one? Before I decided that I am trying to go to an STi instead of upgrading to stage 4 with my WRX, I was thinking about getting their FMIC when I got a bigger turbo.

Excuses.

Hyperflow makes the intercoolers for the vast majority of resellers and TXS are the only ones that have issues. Sure.

I dunno I was under that impression from the vendor's forum.

At any rate i don't want a unit that large (and tube and fin for that matter) I'd rather have a smaller bar and plate core up front so i can get cooling and less lag.

APS is not making the DR500 any more. The 650 is still available.

Core size is 24"x8.4"x3", piping will be 2.5". Pricing we are still working out, but we are targeting to keep it under the cost of most of the other popular Front Mounts.

I have the Perrin FMIC. Cut out a little bit of bumper and you're set. Don't know about 02/03 fitment.

Ouch...that hurts. No this is our kit designed from scratch. Ideas taken from other units yes, but design is our own.

i have the blitz fmic and yes the piping route is pretty bad. The pipe from the turbo to ic is goes straight down by the tranny then under the car then to the front of the car where it makes a bend and connects to the IC core. When i got WOT at say 4k rpm i hit full boost (1.3 bar on vf30) and then a split second my car gets going. Almost like the air has to go hrough the whole piping when i first get on it. This could also be becuase im running a basemap, ill post back once i get tuned next week.

Err.. the air does have to go through the whole piping I ask because I'm shopping for an IC and wondering if the Blitz really has a poorer arrangement. Going under the motor doesn't seem like a bad idea to me, and the last thing I care about is how blingy my engine bay looks. I saw an installed system the other day and it looked pretty decent, but I didn't study it in great detail. Is there really something wrong with the way Blitz routed the plumbing vs. others?

<drool>... price that FMIC affordably and I"m all over one... I've been wanting something like that for far to long... (retains fogs, comes w/ bumper beams, bar & plate) nummy.

yes i know the air has to go through the piping.... i mean that since there is so much piping when your first in vacum and not much air is flowing then you go wot that new amount of air has to travel so far comapred to the short distance of other kits. Like i said i dunno if the spool up is affected alot since im not tuned but that second is sorta noticable. Heres a pic of my engine bay that shows the way the piping it routed up top.

Do you really think the Blitz has longer piping than other FMIC kits? It looks pretty similar from what I've seen. Maybe I should stop hyjacking this thread.

sorry AutoSpeedPerformance didn't mean any disrespect to you and your products. The core just kinda reminded me of a blitz.. But your Ic does look very nice.
