Default 99 Ford Taurus SHO?

I saw one of these for the first time yesterday at the shop I work at. Looked like any other white Ford Taurus, but it had V8 badges on the side. I said, HUH, and opened the hood. Evil looking V8 in there, sideways, with the Yamaha intake system. I'll bet that car has caught a few folks by surprise. Too bad its FWD, I imagine the torque steer must be horrible. Neat ride tho. Engine would be better in a Cobra kit car or Devin replica I think, with RWD.

The Yamaha built V6 engine powered SHO's with 5 speeds were great.

The V8 SHO's only came with automatics, and were not much quicker or sportier than the upgraded Ford V6.

I want to go racing engine in plain wrapper. Hmmm, seems like the ultimate stealth machine from Ford. Just take off the V-8 stickers and plain out the rest of the looks and enjoy. I have a rough time the Taurus because of reliability issues with the transaxles etc. They munch up tie rods, and the lot. I had a T as a company car. Sure did ride nice though. Comfy. The SHO Taurus was finally a Taurus with some guts. Wonder if it still has/had the issues regular Taurus' had. Just my 2 cents on a great stealth ship till it starts breaking down.

The Aurora was much like the V8 SHO: great engine looking for a platform.

Too bad the clutches sucked in those cars!

The best thing about my parents Taurus is the GOD LIKE A/C. That thing will FREEZE you in about 2 seconds.

That and it is comfortable.

Beyond that...meh, boring.

FYI, it's a '00 SE. I call it the "white pill".

My friend bought a '94 SHO the other week for 1800. It's a sick car for dirt cheap, and even came with a factory amp and sub in the back. It's a 5spd and is faster than an MR2 turbo owned by his friend.

Yeah I'm driving a 92 SHO. Not too many people know about them so they do make good sleepers. Even stock. Jay leno has one...kind of. Ever see him driving a festiva? Well it's got the yamaha v6 and tranny in the back. It's a shogun and 7 or 8 of the were made. Stock they put out 220hp. His is all tweaked out pushing a car that weighs next to nothing. Sick!

My wife's '93 SHO is nice. The engine mounts need to be replaced (going to upgrade with solid police-issue mounts) and a few sensors need to be replaced, but other than that it will surprise you, and practically EATS up the highway over 80MPH.

Oh, the V6 was awesome. I used to have one in high school and added a few mods. Mustangs and TA's didn't know what just smoked their a@@.

edit: It was a '92.
